- Comment on YouTube Premium subscribers are reporting price hikes around the globe 1 month ago:
I hate youtube pricing as much as the next guy, but I feel the headline is the opposite of the first line in the article:
YouTube is telling Premium subscribers outside the US that they’ll be paying more for the service soon,
I thought youtube was sneakily changing prices.
- Comment on Unity is ditching their much-hated runtime fees effective immediately, a year after they infuriated basically every game developer 2 months ago:
I was an engineer employed at Unity when they announced this, and it was just an unvetted move from tone deaf executives who all ran away with incredible payouts before it all went crashing.
These people should be in jail…

For one, this post isn’t about any study. Second, dude said supposedly, there is “some studies”, you’ll have to go find it.
The questions youre asking at laughable no matter the study. What good is a study that says it takes a TB to store it, if they went out of their way to use 4k images? Can i make a study saying they are wrong because I used 8k images? It’s not a world record or a challenge, so you use average, favorable measures for things unrelated to the question, which is the actual specific size to the GB. All these studies do is average, so we can get a sense of how much it is today.
The method would imply statistics drawn from market averages, like the size of an ebook or whatever, it wouldn’t contain any of the info you mentioned. Your post is kinda right out of /r/iamverysmart, and you’ve made no effort to look these things up.

Ok chatgpt, you just wanted to string words together knowing very little how computers work, or how studies/conclusions work for that matter.

They don’t need to use unicode, because it’s just an estimate of containing “information”. It doesn’t matter what language it’s in or which encoding we chose. It’s not an exercise in optimization
Why would they store 4k. They aren’t trying to store a high quality historical copy. The average drawing of those days would be estimated to an equivalent image in a book or other media. 4k is not the average.
Storing information this way is not relevant, it’s not an exercise in optimization, and doesn’t help make the study representative or meaningful. If you google this you’ll find how they estimate it. It won’t focus on the computer science of it.
- Comment on Firefox added [ad tracking] and has already turned it on without asking you 4 months ago:
Because they don’t want to scare advertisers.
Instead of the traditional model of serving ads using identifiable data gathered by your browser, it takes the data and aggregates it to make profile type reports that advertisers can use instead of tracking you personally. It basically makes you anonymous while still serving general data to advertisers. This is a pro consumer experiment they did not need to work on.
Sure it’s not ad-blocking, but it’s better than feeding your personal info indiscriminately like some other browsers I could name…

Too bad I don’t own any of them.
- Comment on You won’t need a PSN account to play Ghost of Tsushima single-player, devs reassure after Helldivers 2 fallout 6 months ago:
It is up to the devs, prior to signing any contracts though. In this case they know it’s not part of the deal.
Arrowhead agreed to it, they just didn’t think it would be that bad. And yeah after signing their hands were tied, but that’s normal.
- Comment on China has flooded the market with so many solar panels that people are using them as garden fencing 7 months ago:
oye, if America does it, it’s opportunity, if anyone else does it it’s unfair attacks on America’s freedoms. Everyone knows only america is allowed to take profit from capitalism, the rest is just unfair competition.

Not my fault you don’t understand what those words mean. If only there was an emoji for them.

“Maybe it was god’s plan for your kid to die”.
How does that have anything to do with your estimate of something. I watched both my parents die, and I definitely don’t blame god. I didn’t change the estimate of those situations by pretending I was happy my parents were dead. I did it by thinking they lived a full life and they aren’t sad they are dead.
It says you have the power to change your estimate of the situation, it doesn’t say how, how fast or how difficult it should be.

Agreed. But he didn’t say anything about it being easy!

You sound like a great person.
It just means that resolving that issue starts with yourself. Grow up.
