Back when the game was first released, the inclusion of so many LGBT characters was pretty avant-garde (remember this was before things like Gamergate).
I don't doubt this helped the series gain the fanbase it has. Besides being an excellent game with a well written story and Nintendo ERD levels of technical wizardry.

Ah. Huh. In the games, specifically the first one, you not only get this info much earlier, you even get to meet her partner pre-infection.
I thought it was this that would have gotten people pissy.
Still this episode was a nice addition IMO.

Before the collapse of society, these two characters would not have been allowed to marry in the place where they live. It was only after societal collapse that they were free to be their true selves without discrimination or government oversight to tell them that their love was wrong.
Before the societal collapse, these people were early teenagers, if that. They never lived an adult life under such a regime, and have just as much an understanding about life in such a regime as hetero couples that did live under it: they probably heard about it, and know that on paper it was bad, but they never had to live it.

I disagree.
The characters involved happen to be gay, but there's nothing in the scenarios that are exclusive to gay couples. The same messages can be taken from it even if they were a hetero couple.

- Comment on Isn’t the use of strict behaviorism to explain animals kind of obnoxious? 11 months ago:
You have to remember that this is a documentary made for humans, and the narrator is trying to create an emotional hook for the human.
In reality, the social interactions of other animals are so different from what humans know that it does warrant some sort of explanation for the uninitiated.
That's not to say that, for example, your cat doesn't love you, it probably does. But it will display it it in accordance to the norms of a cat, which sometimes include bringing in dead mice as an offering, something that will annoy first time cat owners.
- Comment on Why is anti-cheat always client-side? 11 months ago:
Anti-cheats are typically designed so that the user can't actually modify them at all.
The problem is that these measures can be bypassed

Oh yeah! Forgot about that stuff lol

Kinda. Publishers often found arcade difficulty spikes useful in home console games because it would mask how little content there was. Super Mario Bros could be beaten in an hour or two by most people if the lives system didn't send you all the way back to the beginning of the game when you ran out.

What do you want me to say? The choice was between total shit and kinda shit. That's what's wrong with the two party entrenchment

Much less of one than what happened under Trump. When disaster struck, Trump's first thought was to bail out big companies over actually helping the people. Infact frequently he put the people dead last. At least Biden has done and tried to do a few things for the common person.

Sure the worse case scenario would have been a fucking disaster, but the truth is America is still on the path to ruin. Things are still getting worse, just at a slower rate.

No, things aren't rosy. What happened under trump was a corporate apologist shitshow though.
- Comment on What is "FUD"? 11 months ago:
It means "Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt".
It's a modern kind of shit talking employed by large corporations in conjunction with astro turfing to dissuade people from going to a competitor.
Because saying stuff like "I dunno dude, there's been reports of a lot of problems with Product X" is a lot more persuasive than "Product X sux!!!", especially when you don't know the poster was paid by Company Y, a competitor, to say it.
