Google has been trying to steal people’s content since before they rolled out AMP. Google views users and creators both as roadblocks to their money.

Don’t be scurred! Download the Pop!_OS disc image, use Rufus to create a bootable USB drive. Put it into your USB port. Boot. Hit f12 if needed to select your boot device. Boot to the thumb drive. Follow the on-screen instructions. EZ!
PS: move your data off your primary hard drive before proceeding with step 3 above. You should follow a wiki, but it really is that simple.

Nope, the vendors see that as a win too. Go buy new hardware. Stop being a poor.

I have parts on the way to build a new PC. Believe it or not, also Linux.

They said that about XP too, but I never heard of anyone getting massively pwned after support stopped.

Plasma 6 has caused me nothing but problems. But I’m using an Nvidia GPU, and I attribute most of it to the proprietary drivers.

That’s lame. At least you got it working. Wise choice to nuke the OEM install. Next time install Linux!

Why? Doesn’t the laptop come with working hardware?
- Comment on Meta won't say whether it trains AI on smart glasses photos 1 week ago:
Let’s not also forget that Zuckerfuck stole facebook. He was hired to finish a project, and lied to the clients telling them he was still working on it while he was deploying it to his own servers. The company was founded by a shitbag thief, who is completely devoid of normal human emotions and ethics. Those clients sued him and were awarded a few million dollars, which is pretty pathetic considering the value of the company. Anyway, of course they’re lying. They were founded on lying and stealing, and that has been their mantra ever since.

The answer is yes. I’m sure they also pour through all of it with their AI looking for things to add to their marketing profile of you.
- Comment on Most Amazon workers considering job hunting due to 5-day in-office policy: Poll 2 weeks ago:
Same, dude. I’d commute for an hour each way to sit at a desk alone, and video conference with people all around the country. After a couple months of that I was very open to new offers, and eventually pursued one. Had they not pulled that shit I would have outright rejected the offers. I was the only person left on the team that knew how everything worked. Shortly after I left the entire team fell apart.

- Comment on Telegram will now hand over your phone number and IP if you’re a criminal suspect 2 weeks ago:
If Telegram receives a valid order from the relevant judicial authorities that confirms you’re a suspect in a case involving criminal activities that violate the Telegram Terms of Service, we will perform a legal analysis of the request and may disclose your IP address and phone number to the relevant authorities.
Does this mean a warrant? If so, then I don’t see an issue, since it complies with our constitutional right to privacy according to the 4th amendment. It’s better than I can say for a lot of transactions between private data firms and law enforcement departments.

- Comment on Starlink says it will block X in Brazil 5 weeks ago:
It’s weird how people on this site are super opposed to the US government blocking TikTok, but think it’s preposterous for Starlink to oppose blocking X in Brazil. Yes, I know Musk has a vested interest in not blocking it, but the root of both issues are the same.
