- Comment on CD Project devs want to "call out" big problems like homelessness and the wealth gap in Cyberpunk 2077 sequel 4 months ago:
Most cyberpunk tends to handwave it, consider the sheer amount of crime in such settings but generally no one every has their implants shuttdown unless its by hacking. In many settings it doesn’t even need a wireless connection (shadowrun) but IRL we’re almost certainly going to end up with always online implants for the soel purpose of control.

Honestly its aspirational at this point, there’s no way we’d get cybernetics IRL without them being directly remote controlable by police, companies or just rich people who pay a small fee to watch poor people hit themselves.
- Comment on “Temporary” disk formatting UI from 1994 still lives on in Windows 11 7 months ago:
Sometimes the new settings UI and the old settings UI aren’t synced and will conflict with eachother, windows 10 has at least 3 volume settings menus (the oldest is from XP) and at least 2 of them operate independantly of eachother with the actual sound output being the average of the two.
- Comment on Isn’t the use of strict behaviorism to explain animals kind of obnoxious? 11 months ago:
I think that’s kind of the point though, we could meet space traveling aliens and deem them non sapient beings without emotions using the same logic we apply to animals because there’s no empirical way to prove that any creature isn’t just the sapience equivelent of a chinese room.
