And no-one actually uses it. Well done them, rich without consequences, living the dream.
- Comment on Expect RAM prices to stay high with Micron locking in deals for 5 years 1 week ago:
Fuck Micron, we will remember. It’s in their interest to pump up the bubble (with 16 SCAs announced by them with no disclosure as to who, which they would if it were anyone important, can we stop reporting press releases as fact, please). When it pops, or China eats their lunch, it will likely be worthwhile to just go insolvent and reincorporate rather than keep to this SCA for anything at scale. More grist for the IPO / stock pump hype mill.
- Comment on Valve is so behind on Steam Controller orders that some won’t ship until 2027 2 weeks ago:
Yup, I got mine on day one (spam that F5 ppl) and it was here on the second day, surprised me, they said a week.
- Comment on Unreal Engine 6 is all about Generative AI, Fortnite and the Verse 2 weeks ago:
Epic C-suite: I know, let’s make it even more resource intensive, when no-one can afford high end cards, there’s no supply of them anyway and nothing much new apparently in the pipeline. That’ll work.
- Comment on Meta Silently Added Face-Recognition Code for Its Smart Glasses to Millions of Phones 3 weeks ago:
In other words they’re deploying code to the edge, in real time apps, that they’ve had since at least 2010 on the servers. Filling a database that they’ve ‘deleted’ before (trust us, bro) due to mass outrage and been successfully sued for multiple times. Like they say, if you’re rich enough (and a corporation so no one goes to jail) it’s not a crime, it’s a fine. Apparently this database is worth $2B in fines, surely they won’t use it for evil…

Also some Russian hackers are brought down the Internet Archive
Er, do you mean the Russian hackers brought down the IA (and why, I’d peg government actors for that, more to lose, and more competent with legality) or were brought down by the IA, in which case I missed it.
No judgement, English grammar is obscure, but this sentence is ambiguous and incorrect.
