Editors update, an hour later:
“Wait… I’m just realizing that’s the count of Steam Verified games in my personal library. We are waiting to hear back if any of the 15 games I have not purchased on Steam impact this total.”
- Comment on Sony is reportedly working on a PS5 portable 6 days ago:
That’s the delicious irony here. They could probably release a Linux or Windows based clone next week, if they wanted.
The years of work they’re putting in is probably 90% to avoid leaking their game engine on non-proprietary hardware. Which is the same choice that will make it an unprofitable market flop.
- Comment on JSAUX released their first White 6-in-1 Docking Station for handhelds like Steam Deck 6 days ago:
I had one Nintendo Switch fry itself when plugged into a non-nintendo USB C connection, so I wouldn’t risk it.
I learned the hard way that the switch is apparently notoriously picky about it’s chargers.

- Comment on How's the battery life after you've had one for a while? 1 week ago:
Yep. Lunati / MineTest. My battery life while playing it is so good, it’s weird. I certainly don’t mind. But I thought my SteamDeck had a battery tracking bug, at first.
- Comment on How's the battery life after you've had one for a while? 1 week ago:
I haven’t noticed any loss of battery performance in the year I have had mine.
Weirdly, the time I notice the battery the most is while playing Lunati. Because playing Lunati for two hours somehow costs no battery at all on my SteamDeck.
The Lunati developers are some kind of mad geniuses, I figure.

Lots of devices will kill their own battery to maintain Wifi connection rather than drop.
When is happened to me, it’s always a combination of a specific place I’m sitting and a specific wifi access point.
I haven’t, myself, noticed it happen to my SteamDeck, though.

Neat! I’ll check it out. Thanks!
- Comment on Deck to LG TV 3 weeks ago:
Annecdotaly, a recent patch had notes that implied it fixes this issue. I got so tired of the dock being unreliable that I haven’t confirmed it, though.

I am shocked! Shocked, I say!

Lol. Yep.
Anyone want to jump in and confidently vouch that Musk’s moral code won’t allow him to harvest human brains from living humans, shove them in a bottle, and use them as a fake AI in his fleet?
- Comment on the official dock is never quite plug & play when it comes to an external display (DVI) 4 weeks ago:
I have both the official dock and some random USB C multi-connector. The random one is far more reliable, in my experience.

Lol. Yet.
No doubt it will be discovered by a tool assisted speed runner.

It was browser hijacking malware.
I don’t like when people talk about my friend, Bonzi Buddy, that way! Lol. It’s completely fair and accurate, but I still don’t like to hear it. He was so cute!
- Comment on Valve still waiting on a 'generational leap' for Steam Deck 2 - but it's coming 1 month ago:
Yeah. I could figure out how to make a PC do all that, but I would rather pay for a Steam console that does all of that for me out of the box.

As a SteamDeck player, does this mean I can start saying I use Arch, by the way?

It’s just a concession that they have no idea how single sign on works, and haven’t been able to hire anyone who has any idea, either.

Anything Cox claims about their speeds or service should be treated as absolutely bullshit until proven otherwise, and even then taken with a grain of salt until the proof has been closely examined in court.

Somebody had to try it first.
I would gladly point to the corpse of this newspaper in a couple of years as a lesson for the rest of us, except how the hell is a newspaper still in business in 2024 in the first place?
We will learn nothing from this one.
- Comment on [Discussion] SteamOS 3.6 is nearly here, with Valve focusing on bug fixes before release. What are some bugs you've encountered (on either Stable or Beta) that you're hoping to see fixed? 2 months ago:
On the stable channel, it seems like (from comparing notes with friends) a recent update introduced crashes into older games that did not crash previously.
- Comment on Amazon is making its employees come back to the office five days a week 2 months ago:
Return to Office Mandates are to ask poor company performance.
I used to buy a lot of stuff off of Amazon, and subscribe to Prime, and Kindle Unlimited, all while their service got a little shittier each year.
But they couldn’t stop there, and decided to go union-busting, which changed it from a personal choice to a moral one, for me.
I didn’t think my behavior was enough to cause them all this trouble, but I guess I was buying waaaaay too much shit at Amazon.
- Comment on There's a reason we aren't as harsh on the Steam Deck. Actually, a couple. 2 months ago:
Yeah. If Valve releases a remotely viable desktop console OS, I’ll immediately build one for my living room. If for no other reason, to keep the rest of the family away from my StaamDeck.

As in if you live in a state with sales tax but down the road is a state without sales tax- why ever shop in your state?
Mostly the states are quite big, so it’s not worth the trouble. But along various state borders, it distorts the shopping experience in ofd ways.
Like I’ve been towns that are missing common retailers entirely, because everyone drives to the next town over (in another state), to avoid the tax.
We also have a rich history of driving across state lines to purchase stuff that’s illegal in our own state. It’s also illegal to bring it back, but the borders aren’t patrolled, so the only way to get caught is to have a traffic violation while doing it.
Or so I’ve heard. I never break any laws, myself.

Cool chart.
It really makes the point to me that the PS1 and PS2, when adjusted for inflation, and for relative compute power, were just such a fantastic deal.
I was recovering from some serious console-purchase fatigue, when I bought my PS1 to replace my garage sale purchased Super NES. It was a big deal to me.
I’ve paid PS5 prices (inflation adjusted) for a game system a few times (my first Switch and SteamDeck), but they’ve been a lot more mind blowing than what appears to be on offer today.
Disclaimer: My favorite game is 8-bit, anyway.
