- Comment on Futuristic mosquito-zapping laser now available to buy, video shows device in action — tiny device shoots down bugs like a personal air defense system, but costs $1,000 2 weeks ago:
There are already a bunch of scaled up ones that are designed to target military drones. Targeting humans with them is technically a war crime (well blinding people with lasers is a war crime, you are probably aloud to kill people with them because that doesn’t create handicap people that burden the state, war crimes are defined by the billionaire class) so expect that to be widely done too.
- Comment on I've never seen Joker get this heated before 5 months ago:
One of his brothers got probation for punching a fan at a Nuggets game and his other brother is an amateur MMA fighter. I don’t think you really want to get on the bad side of the Serbs.
- Comment on US | Supreme Court takes case that could strip FCC of authority to issue fines 7 months ago:
So IRS cannot fine individual taxpayers without a jury trial? Or does this reasoning only apply to our corporate overlords?
- Comment on AI Features Fall Short: 73% of iPhone Users and 87% of Samsung Users Say They Add Little or No Value 1 year ago:
AI adds negative value for me in the sense that I would pay more for a phone without it (not that I should have to pay more for less). I don’t trust AI to handle my data responsibly. Even primitive AI like autocorrect creates more mistakes than it fixes for me. AI’s power consumption far out weighs its utility.
I do find Roko’s Basilisk at least entertaining though.
- Comment on Pornhub prepares to block five more states rather than check IDs 2 years ago:
Rape rates declined following the code spread availability of internet porn, I wonder if they will go higher in the stupid states (I live in one). Obviously, VPNs neuter the impact of the laws some, but not everyone is savvy enough to use them. I feel bad for adolescent boys.
