  yes. Because you’re on the platform. All it takes in 100 bucks and you’re good to go. Distribution and sales already taken care of.

  Counter example: Until steam opened up fully, you would not have a chance for a game like balatro to reach its popularity. The dev himself stated that he expected to sell only a handfull of copies. Not a chance he’d go through all the hoops of trying to get it through something like Steam Greenlight, let alone a “proper” publisher.

  I rather have a bunch of low effort games that nobody looks at even twice, if that means we get a chance of getting a couple of really good indie games

  I dunno. I rather have that devs have an easier time to get on the platform and release a surprise hit, than an arbitrary hurdle that gatekeeps the platform.

  If something is shit, it will just not be relevant.

  Downside is, that devs actually need to promote their stuff instead of completely relying on just being discovered on the platform

  yup. rice is basically one of the worst things you can do. Unless your goal is to have rice dust in your electronics which will turn into goo when it gets moist

  yeah, understandable. the ribbon is there to help pull it out. it pulls out sideways, which is a bit awkward. You can check ifixit disassembly tutorial to seee how to best do it

  they have the regular warranty. it’s basically one of their selling points.

  But also: have you tried unplugging the battery and reconnecting it? maybe the connection is a bit flaky

  It’s easier to source a screen with a particular size that has standard resolution.

  The steamdeck has a super awkward resolution that doesn’t fit into any standard aspect ratio. Which creates problems with some games.

  If you want to play games on a lower resolution for performance reasons, you can always just to that. Games don’t need to run on the native resolution.

  Playing a lower resolution on a screen that has a higher one will generally also make the image look nicer, as the DPI is higher. (just be careful and don’t scale to some weird fractional scales)
