- Comment on Discord's CTO is just as worried about enshittification as you are 1 week ago:
You’re telling me that you don’t want UI elements randomly being moved around and redesigned as well as having more and more features that no one uses piled on until you can barely see the chat you were originally trying to have? Kids these days…
- Comment on Oh, it turns out Cyberpunk 2077 is getting one more update after all, and it's not too far away 1 week ago:
Compared to launch, it just has a lot more flow. They filled out a lot of the gaps. The original version had the Ubisoft problem of: pick destination, go to thing, complete mission, repeat. Now, in a good way, there are constant interruptions. It feels like a hectic future where you never get a moments peace with people often offering you new and interesting jobs.
I also took a lot more time to read all of the little logs I picked up. Again just helped with immersion a ton. If you give yourself the chance to try and make V yours, it has some unique opportunities to shine.
Last thing I’ll mention is Cyberware/Perks. The whole system was rebuilt and feels like you have a lot more direction for ideas. The bonuses feel specific enough not to be overpowered, but designed enough that you notice the difference.
Overall, it just made it easier to roleplay and imagine yourself in the world of Night City.
^also not having crashes every 30-40 minutes helped^

My second time through was so much better than the first. Half the reason I bought it on release was for that reason. I wanted to see if it would glow-up and it totally did. My first time through felt like a typical FPS, but second time, I was a Deadeye hacker and just went crazy on perks. So many more options for approach now.

I JUST replayed through this for the sole purpose of playing it in its final state. I hadn’t played since release. I swear if they add anything even slightly cool, I’m going to be pissed and have to play it all again lol.

I wonder how many collective watt hours this inefficiency adds up to over time in comparison to one that was well-optimized

Or just remove Shorts? That would probably beneficial…
- Comment on This is the world's first sodium-ion mobile battery, a game changer in environmental sustainability, but it's not cheap 2 months ago:
Honestly, $70 for 9,000 mAh for cutting edge battery tech isn’t as much as I’d expect. That was about the going rate when we first started setting portable battery banks being sold as a dedicated item. For obvious reasons, this won’t be something the average person gets, but it exists and it’s no longer just in labs.
Not to mention, the improvements in longevity and temperature range were benefits I wasn’t aware of. Exciting!
- Comment on GTA 5's free Enhanced PC update spoiled by missing in-game text chat, but it may only be temporary 3 months ago:
I can’t get over the car reflections and headlights. Those two are just never accurate in almost any game and they look stunning here. I even saw an accurate reflection of the street in an NPC’s sunglasses!

I booted up single player last night and the graphics updates are seriously impressive. It looks like every “Visuals Enhanced” mod merged into the correct result. None of the overblown “realism” tone mapping all the Reshade developers seem to go for.
- Comment on Traumatic stuff gives ChatGPT ‘anxiety,’ but therapy helps. 3 months ago:
It’s just mimicking the many previous conversations it’s been fed, probably a ton of which were personal conversations where the same things were happening. Nothing honestly surprising here, but maybe I’m jaded a bit as of late.

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! I fucking HATE this idea. Let’s just encourage our fellow American to get even more used to hearing cracker voices everywhere. Sorry to Bother You was a prediction, not a satire.
I get so pissed when people are so dense they can’t take the effort to understand and listen to their fellow human. I find it so insanely rude to ask to speak to “someone who speaks English” or “an American”.
From my experiences in tech, the American agents aren’t any smarter. People just aren’t willing to just treat the person in the other end with respect.

I’m always excited to see these releases. I’m glad even some of the most infamous developers are joining the movement.

Honestly, I’ve always gone to a retail store if quality is a concern. Name brand SanDisks have literally never failed me.
- Comment on After 18 years, Blu-ray media production draws to a close — Sony shuts its last factory in Feb 4 months ago:
Sure, for storage. I’m more concerned about first party sources for high quality rips. The only thing left will be streaming rips, which just don’t compare on a proper display, especially once HDR gets involved.
It’s like if they just stopped selling CDs and all you could find were YouTube rips anymore.
- Comment on After 18 years, Blu-ray media production draws to a close — Sony shuts its last factory in Feb 4 months ago:
Having watched some of my favorites on Netflix, even with their 4K offering, the compression can kill a scene. Netflix has no incentive to provide the 0.1% of viewers who care a better quality stream, so they don’t.

This is truly disappointing. The end of a physical media era and nothing on the horizon to replace it.

Almost like nobody wants that garbage. The average consumer doesn’t know what it is and doesn’t need it. Anyone smart enough to know what it is knows to stay away.
