yhea, it’s all enshitification.
not only in the products, but every aspect of life. Pay is down, cost of living keeps going up, erosion of rights, the president straight up putting money into his pocket…
We are going through a handful of “one in a lifetime” crisis at the same time.
And typing on my phone, means grammar sometimes gets fucked.
- Comment on The Steam Deck Costs How Much Now? - Aftermath (Nathan Grayson) 4 days ago:
were reaching extreme levels of enshitification and late stage capitalism. we in a massive crisis.
Old stuff getting more expensive is clearly an unprecedented bad sign.
Videogame console because more expensive isn’t the crisis. I’m not sad that videogame consoles are more expensive. it’s just an indication that our economy is about to collapse
- Comment on The Steam Deck Costs How Much Now? - Aftermath (Nathan Grayson) 4 days ago:
All through my life, electronic products only got cheaper the longer they sit on the shelf. All the way to almost zero until they become a collectible antique.
this lifetime trend is a really bad omen.
I know what inflation is, I’ve seen sonic in sketchy websites.

the same product that’s been on the shelves for years. it shouldn’t get more expensive, something is really wrong with the economy

- Comment on The Steam Deck Costs How Much Now? - Aftermath (Nathan Grayson) 5 days ago:
remember when technology got cheaper over time? can’t afford the latest tech, wait a couple years and it’ll be unaffordable, patient gaming.

- Comment on Legendary Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu retains said status by explaining why AI music doesn't work 7 months ago:
reason 1: it sucks
reason 2: AI (i think music AI are diffusion models, but I’m not sure) is inherently uncreative. It can get snippets and patterns from all music ever published, but it cannot create a single original idea.

yhea, of the company stops producing something or goes bankrupt, then it makes sense or doesn’t apply.
but I’m most cases, that would help with e waste.

there’s should me a law which allows you to buy each component of a product separately in such a way that each component together costs the same as ever whole.

- Comment on 11 Bit confirm that they used generative AI for The Alters "in a very limited manner" 10 months ago:
we had shovelware slop before AI.
slop is the problem, AI makes creative slop easier (almost trivial). but by the end , the slop is the issue, regardless of the tools used to create it.
- Comment on 11 Bit confirm that they used generative AI for The Alters "in a very limited manner" 11 months ago:
i believe that AI is inherently uncreative, and used poorly you just create slop,
if an artist can use AI to help them make something good, then it’s not that bad.
