- Comment on Illinois's new law requires operating system providers to add age verification by 2028 including open-source projects 2 weeks ago:
you need to read the actual text of the bill , not the sanitized PR blog post put out by the people pushing it who want to make it seem like it’s a better idea than it actually is. don’t ever take the word of a corporation or politician at face value.
“Covered manufacturer” means a manufacturer of an 13Internet-enabled device, an operating system provider, or an 14application store.

the person who took the screenshot was showing off their rice. the ASCII lines are a pipe program, similar to the old Win98 Pipes screensaver. the bottom right is literally just the ASCII rain from The Matrix movies.

why would a billionaire or the politicians they pay for be concerned with what’s best for everyone?

I didn’t say anybody who played Minecraft had to use it. You’re just bad at reading. Do I need to walk you through the sentence like you’re five, or are you done beating your chest like a teenager?

Any app can tell if it has root privileges.
- Comment on Microsoft warns Authenticator now blocks rooted Android and jailbroken iOS, verify if you're affected 1 month ago:
Great, what does that have to do with the authenticator supposedly only being for work?
- Comment on Microsoft warns Authenticator now blocks rooted Android and jailbroken iOS, verify if you're affected 1 month ago:
sure, but you shouldn’t be rooting Android any more than you should be running Linux on a root user.

you don’t just use authenticator for work. anybody who plays Minecraft uses it.

as long as whatever is in the game looks good, I don’t care where it came from.
- Comment on New York's case that Steam lootboxes are "gambling" is a free speech violation that "will have an impermissible chilling effect on protected videogame design", argue Valve 2 months ago:
a reminder that no corporation is your friend, and even valve will do scummy things if that’s where the profit is.

well at the very least you can still use it, just get that battery out.
- Comment on I've been using my steam deck wrong this whole time 3 months ago:
ah, well it was charged up with a full battery and working and then it was just dead. won’t come on again and the charging LED does not light up anymore despite different cords and adapters being tried. pretty sure it’s a dead motherboard.

mine sadly died recently so I’ve not been using it at all 😭

FYI everyone should be running the Snowflake extension for their browser to help other people bypass government blocks on Tor. people in excessively oppressive countries like China depend on it!
- Comment on What game recently hooked you on the Deck, more than on PC ? 7 months ago:
It’s really fun. I grew up playing games like Arkanoid on the Apple IIGS, so I’ve always had a love of the genre. And Ball X Pit reinvents it with another genre I like, rogue-lites.
- Comment on What game recently hooked you on the Deck, more than on PC ? 7 months ago:
well, there’s a couple I’ve only ever played on the Deck. Dave the Diver, and Ball X Pit are two I would recommend.
