- Comment on Rumor: XBOX Is Making Their Own Destiny Like MMO, But With Halo 2 weeks ago:
Zenimax Online had another MMO in development called Project Blackbird that was described as a Destiny-like shooter with a lot of positive first impressions surrounding it. It had been in development since 2018 and was nearing its eventual reveal. Then Microsoft canceled the entire project as part of their big round of layoffs that happened last year (not to be confused with the bigger round of layoffs this year).
So they had a Destiny-like MMO, which already had 7 years of work done on it, and then killed it for short-term financial gains. Destiny implodes, Microsoft realizes “Shit, there’s an opening in the market here,” but instead of already having a killer project ready to go to fill the void, they’re instead going to start over from scratch using a tired, recycled IP that will inevitably release far too late.

if its not corrupted to hell and back)
That’s the key. It’s the whole current state of “mine for my entire lifespan, plus decades after to make sure my descendents reap the rewards of my work for generations to come” that is so wrong with copyright.
Original copyright law in the US was 14 years, with an option to renew it up to 28. That at least makes sense to me.
So, Valve releases Portal in 2007, great. They release Portal 2 in 2011, also great. And then they do almost nothing with it. It’s been 15 years since Portal 2.
If they were making a Portal 3? Fine, just say so. Renew it and the IP for Portal 1 remains yours until 2038. Don’t want to do Portal anymore? Well, Portal 1 and its characters should have gone public domain in 2021, then.

So what’s stopping me from using OBS as a “software webcam” and feeding it a stream of stock footage of someone waving their hand?
- Comment on Valve's next Steam UI target is the Community Market, with more details and, yes, a wider layout 2 months ago:
TBH the only update I’d like to see to the community market is its removal. Loot boxes are gross enough without adding a profit motive.

I mean, not with two of them, but the Dualsense does have a trackpad.
- Comment on Finishing a video game can trigger “post-game depression,” study finds 3 months ago:
Only ever had this with Mass Effect. I think just the fact that it was a series I had played for years and the ending (albeit controversial) was final and left no “postgame” to play around with.
I only beat it after the Citadel DLC had been released, though, which IMO was a much stronger send off to the series than the game itself was at launch, which just made the real ending hit more when I got around to it.
