The surge of Chinese accounts logging in during February is because of Chinese New Year, not bots. Most Chinese people get like two weeks off work for the holiday, so the number of Chinese people playing at gaming cafes (which are exclusively windows) spikes like that every year.

I’m curious if the particular setup they have at those cafes results in their PCs being surveyed repeatedly, which might help explain why they have an outsized effect on the dataset. Because I can’t see 75% of all 5070s in existence actually belonging only to Chinese gaming cafes.

My understanding is common practice is for people to log onto the gaming cafe computers with their own account, and then log out of steam when they’re done. So the same computer may have a bunch of different steam accounts log in and get surveyed on the same day.
