Hate to be this guy, but in theory Youtube would be super aggressive towards both Firefox users(anti competition) and uBlock Origin users( to raise their revenue and to push for YouTube premium).
I hope uBlock Origin keep working forever, but I think at at some point YouTube will get more aggressive till adblock users be unable to use Youtube.

Exactly that. It has been ages since I have seen YT ad, and this was only due to a YT link I accidentally clicked on my mobile.

Background play too. I’m not sure if it’s just a Samsung thing but the playback stops when I close the browser but I can then pull down the notification centre and the playback controls for YouTube are there. If I then click play it wont stop even if I close the display.

This is exactly what I do with Samsung. Now what I need is a mute tab option.

oh, this seems to be a samsung bug, but there is an extension for FF that does this on every device.

And for us stupid iPhone users, there’s Vinegar + Safari.

You can also patch the Youtube app with Revanced to add sponsorblock, remove ads, and customize the app (block shorts, remove the option for them), etc.
Or use a third party app like NewPipe.

Does NewPipe still work? Every time I’ve tried to use it for the past couple years videos refuse to play. I’ve moved to ReVanced (it’s also a big plus that it lets you log in to keep your subscriptions and watch history).
