They have a survey right now asking people if they would be willing to alpha test and what they would be willing to pay, and there are only one-time payments on the survey. They’re somewhat high payments though, $30-60.
Comment on Junk Store: BIG update on what is next
Railcar8095@lemm.ee 1 month agoI might be mistaken, but them pointing out “ongoing per user costs” + becoming closed source led me to believe they are moving to subscription based model. I have the gog extension even if I don’t really use it, and I would consider paying again. But not recurrent.
Let’s see how it goes, I hope I’m mistaken.

I was wondering if you would please send me the zip file for the GoG extension please.
I can’t pay for it due to being broke and currently can’t even pay the overdraft fees on my checking account, and was going to eventually pay them for it once i got out of my depression and landed a job…
But now reading what they are doing here makes me never want to pay these guys a single penny, however I’d wish to play my backlog of free GoG games i earned as well as Morrowind from my GoG library using the Junk Store extension. I appreciate you!

Let’s get some perspective here.
We don’t usually talk about our situation, but maybe it’s time. We’re two people living on a small sailboat, below the poverty line. Before this, I was conned into working two years for free by the wrong people—lost our home, our savings, everything. The boat was our escape hatch. We’re in our mid-40s now, and the small income from the GOG extension is what keeps us afloat—literally—and lets us keep working on Junk Store full time.
We’re not crying poor or asking for charity. We’re building something of real value and just asking that it be respected. And clearly, you do see the value, or you wouldn’t be here asking for someone to pirate it for you. Seeing comments like yours cuts deep—not because of the money, but because of the way you try to paint us as greedy, while shaming us for not working for free. That’s not a moral stance. That’s just entitlement dressed up as virtue.
If the free tools are good enough, use them. If they’re not, then show a little respect to the people doing the work.
