Peruvian_Skies@sh.itjust.works 1 day agoYour last sentence kind of defeats the entire rest of your comment. If it’s just suppposed to be a built-in screen for following recipes in your kitchen, it’s better to get a cheap tablet because you can also use it elsewhere for other things.
Haha, that was intentional. I don’t see much use for a dedicated kitchen screen. Though for someone that does have a use case, the fridge is the only place I see it going other than a wall.
To follow a recipe on a fridge screen might also involve having an island to be able to face it while prepping, so even that scenario I have trouble seeing utility.
I think in the future, the screen will keep track of whats inside the fridge and be able to create shopping lists and maybe even order things.
But right now, I would never pay for it. Its like the wifi i have in my owen. Never connected it but I paid for it since it was included…
What’s the intended functionality of an oven with wifi? Replacing an egg timer with push notifications?
I was wondering that too… Appearently it has a camera inside and you can connect to it using wifi so you dont have to walk 10 steps to look inside it.
That would be interesting if it were a thermal camera. Though as you point out, I wouldn’t be spending extra money on such a feature.
