My new tv has never known the internet and never will. USB updates are still available and very simple to install. AppleTV handles the apps the tv just displays them.
This is what I did (jave an LG) That said I only use it as a monitor from my Shield Pro , id be happoer with just a TV that also had DP (fuck the HDMI alliance and their refusal to allow a Linux driver

Yep. My LG C5 isn’t hooked up to the Internet. I would have gone with a (non-tv) monitor, but I couldn’t find any 55 inch 120hz OLED monitors.
