- Comment on Bazzite is the next best thing to SteamOS while we wait on Valve 1 week ago:
The steamdeck emulated tears of the kingdom better than the switch itself on launch weekend.
- Comment on This is my first time learning of this nearly useless novelty keyboard gift and I am in mourning for all the microseconds I’ve wasted in my life 1 week ago:
That little beauty is just how it starts. Sooner or later you end up like this:
- Comment on Microsoft closes the door on Windows 11 supporting older hardware 2 weeks ago:
After 2 months with arch on my gaming desktop and a month of truenas scale on the nas tower, I’m probably not going back to Windows. Though I’m not too keen on truenas, may switch to hexos after it adds more features.
- Comment on [Leak] Steam Controller 2 render thumbnail leaked in SteamVR drivers 3 weeks ago:
I was going to say that if you wanted one they’re cheap on eBay, but after checking, they’re $50+
- Comment on Sony is reportedly working on a PS5 portable 4 weeks ago:
Maybe. But if they make it on arm it could benefit from easier porting of (non Nintendo) switch 2 games

Oligarch needs some new organs?
- Comment on Instead of carrying multiple camera lenses, this one lets you swap optics 3 months ago:
I think you’d be right to insert the xkcd meme about another new standard
- Comment on Valve confirms it'll support the ROG Ally with its Steam Deck operating system 4 months ago:
Their proprietary external GPU connector (xg Mobile graphics) was recently reverse engineered so you may soon* be able to connect desktop graphics cards.
Still in the early revisions, though all the info is on GitHub by osy86
- Comment on Hori Announces Controller Made Specifically for Steam 5 months ago:
Honestly the OG stream controller would have been perfect if they could find a way to fit a 2nd analog stick on there
- Comment on The PC Adapter For PlayStation VR2 Arrives This August With Some Drawbacks 6 months ago:
Unless the price is low enough for you to justify the lost features
- Comment on Cable TV providers ruined cable—now they’re coming for streaming 7 months ago:
No, the descent began during covid, I think they’re trying to get in a few curb stomps with bundling before everyone goes back to sailing the high seas
- Comment on It's Time to Bring Back the Steam Machine 7 months ago:
Agreed. If they’d just put a right analog stick in there somewhere it would have been awesome. The vibrators just don’t provide the right tactile feedback
- Comment on Nintendo DMCA nukes 8,535 GitHub copies of Switch emulator yuzu 7 months ago:
Alright everybody, let’s make the Switch 2 the next WiiU.
No purchases, no recommendations to relatives. If anyone you know asks if you think they should get one for their kids for Christmas: nah it’s basically just the switch but WAY more expensive.
- Comment on The Fallout TV show might have answered a decades-old question in the video games 8 months ago:
I don’t think we’re considering all the possibilities for this revelation. Like China may have dropped the first bombs on the US after vault Tek dropped a bomb on China
- Comment on After pushing cloud storage, TV provider to auto-delete 61-day-old DVR recordings 8 months ago:
FireWire was a standard/semi-pro video interface back in the days before HDMI. I thought it was just standard to have them on older equipment.
- Comment on AT&T won't say how its customers' data spilled online 8 months ago:
Huh, I wonder if they’re not saying because it was a crypto ransom and they had the opportunity to stop it.
- Comment on FCC scraps old speed benchmark, says broadband should be at least 100Mbps 9 months ago:
I thought their issue was with one-touch make-ready rules on the phone poles. You had to wait for legacy users to move their lines up the pole before Google’s could be added to the bottom. And legacy users had absolutely no incentive to hurry since completing the work means helping add another competitor in the area.
- Comment on Android Auto starts flagging more powerful “parked” apps on the home screen 9 months ago:
Tbf, I read the article and Ron mentions Android automotive a couple times. That’s the one that runs on the chip built into new cars as opposed to your phone. That’s the thing GM was/is planning to use on their MY2025 instead of Android Auto (phone based).
So I actually support Joe’s call for a return to cars without chips. Ones that rely on Android Auto, not Android automotive
- Comment on Commercials Are Streaming’s New Norm, and Creators Aren’t Happy: “It’s Almost Worse Than Broadcast” 10 months ago:
With the writers and actors strikes this year, I think it’ll probably be slim pickens until summer or potentially autumn.
- Comment on [deleted] 11 months ago:
I’m trying to work up the nerve to do the front half. I’ve done a whole switch lite case swap, but I chickened out on trying to reuse the screen on it and just bought a new one
- Comment on Black people more likely to be blocked from renting homes than white people 1 year ago:
I thought the same, but apparently it’s UK English meaning ‘for rent’
- Comment on I customized some joycons for my steam deck 1 year ago:
Without the NFC & ir camera, I bet the right one was much easier than a Nintendo branded one. Normally it’s like wrangling an octopus when you put it all back together.
- Comment on These shell swaps really do be taking 5 hours 1 year ago:
The ribbon cable that connects the buttons to the motherboard has a REALLY finicky. There is basically no retention mechanism, so you have to line up the ribbon on the contacts and screw everyone back together. I’m not even sure it’s actually a ribbon cable or if it is, it’s a really old style. I had to take it apart and put it back together again a bunch of times.
- Comment on These shell swaps really do be taking 5 hours 1 year ago:
Have you ever done shell swaps on other devices? If so, how would you compare this one?
I’ve done joy con pairs in 1.5-2 hours but dualshock 4 took 20+ reassemble attempts over the course of a week before I got it working.
The switch light I did took a little over 3 hours.
Just trying to gage if the front panel is something I really want to try
