- Comment on Probability that the next steam deck is arm based? 1 week ago:
Doubt it. All the news has said “semi-custom” chip like the steam deck did when it came out. Valve has tweaked an existing x64 CPU again.
Not to say it’s impossible, since AMD does have an arm license, but not likely

Check eBay quick before all the reasonably priced ddr5 is snatched up.
Good luck! o7

True, but you can expand the ram, your board has enough slots. You’re stuck with whatever video card you can afford until the next upgrade.

At least the AMD chips have an integrated GPU so with some ram you could have a basic computer.

Not Þorium?
- Comment on ChatGPT dissidents, the students who refuse to use AI: ‘I couldn’t remember the last time I had written something by myself’ 4 months ago:
Even if it does solve some problems (not that I concede that point), does it create more problems than it solves, and are the problems it creates larger than the ones it solves.
- Comment on Bluesky restricts access to 72 accounts in Turkey amid government pressure 7 months ago:
Bluesky has restricted access to 72 accounts and one post in Turkey, marking a shift for the decentralized social media platform
Is bluesky decentralized?
- Comment on Steam Desktop and Steam Deck stable update released with various fixes, plus tweaks to the download UI 8 months ago:
Timberborn, control, civ 6, tomb raider(s). Nothing MMO.
- Comment on Steam Desktop and Steam Deck stable update released with various fixes, plus tweaks to the download UI 8 months ago:
They’ve been teasing a general release for like 3 years now.
I lost hope that it would be any time soon and just installed arch. That was 6 months ago and I haven’t had any show stopping issues yet.
- Comment on Green steel plant glugs out first ton of molten metal 8 months ago:
Depends on how it’s powered. If the electricity comes from burning coal (coke) or methane, that would emit co2. If it runs off solar/hydro/wind it would only emit co2 from any carbon trapped in the iron ore that manages to burn instead of becoming incorporated into the steel.
- Comment on Deutsche Telekom and Perplexity announce new 'AI Phone' priced at under $1K 9 months ago:
Obv the problem not having an ai phone. /S
- Comment on 3D printer 'bone filament' simulates real bones, helps surgeons practice operations 10 months ago:
It behaves the same as normal bone with most tools, but it just isn’t as porous real bone so you can’t get that real soaked-in-the-blood-of-your-enemies look if that’s what you’re going for.
- Comment on Bazzite is the next best thing to SteamOS while we wait on Valve 11 months ago:
The steamdeck emulated tears of the kingdom better than the switch itself on launch weekend.
- Comment on This is my first time learning of this nearly useless novelty keyboard gift and I am in mourning for all the microseconds I’ve wasted in my life 11 months ago:
That little beauty is just how it starts. Sooner or later you end up like this:
- Comment on Microsoft closes the door on Windows 11 supporting older hardware 11 months ago:
After 2 months with arch on my gaming desktop and a month of truenas scale on the nas tower, I’m probably not going back to Windows. Though I’m not too keen on truenas, may switch to hexos after it adds more features.
- Comment on [Leak] Steam Controller 2 render thumbnail leaked in SteamVR drivers 1 year ago:
I was going to say that if you wanted one they’re cheap on eBay, but after checking, they’re $50+
- Comment on Sony is reportedly working on a PS5 portable 1 year ago:
Maybe. But if they make it on arm it could benefit from easier porting of (non Nintendo) switch 2 games

- Comment on Valve confirms it'll support the ROG Ally with its Steam Deck operating system 1 year ago:
Their proprietary external GPU connector (xg Mobile graphics) was recently reverse engineered so you may soon* be able to connect desktop graphics cards.
Still in the early revisions, though all the info is on GitHub by osy86

Honestly the OG stream controller would have been perfect if they could find a way to fit a 2nd analog stick on there

No, the descent began during covid, I think they’re trying to get in a few curb stomps with bundling before everyone goes back to sailing the high seas
- Comment on It's Time to Bring Back the Steam Machine 1 year ago:
Agreed. If they’d just put a right analog stick in there somewhere it would have been awesome. The vibrators just don’t provide the right tactile feedback
- Comment on Nintendo DMCA nukes 8,535 GitHub copies of Switch emulator yuzu 1 year ago:
Alright everybody, let’s make the Switch 2 the next WiiU.
No purchases, no recommendations to relatives. If anyone you know asks if you think they should get one for their kids for Christmas: nah it’s basically just the switch but WAY more expensive.
- Comment on The Fallout TV show might have answered a decades-old question in the video games 1 year ago:
I don’t think we’re considering all the possibilities for this revelation. Like China may have dropped the first bombs on the US after vault Tek dropped a bomb on China
- Comment on After pushing cloud storage, TV provider to auto-delete 61-day-old DVR recordings 1 year ago:
FireWire was a standard/semi-pro video interface back in the days before HDMI. I thought it was just standard to have them on older equipment.
- Comment on AT&T won't say how its customers' data spilled online 1 year ago:
Huh, I wonder if they’re not saying because it was a crypto ransom and they had the opportunity to stop it.
