Maybe browser devs will take this opportunity to start working towards memory optimizations. That’s where the majority of my memory goes and that includes Electron apps.

I feel like the art and interest in optimisation has been almost lost. When we made performance gains it was seen as an opportunity to bloat operating systems and websites, or simply neglect to optimise them.
Remember when auto playing videos were a massive no no? Now that nono is not muting your auto play videos. Not to mention a single website running hundreds of trackers.

Did you say you wanted “more agentic AI experiences”? Right away, my good sir!

I actually think it might get even worse as more and more software will be written by AI.

Rocking 64GB on my desktop after an opportunistic upgrade a couple of years ago and barely using 32GB most of the time

I upgraded to 128GB on our server at the point where RAM was the cheapest and oh boy is it tempting to sell half of it.

I had 32 GB of ddr4 3200 speed Corsair.
About a year ago I found a new in box 32GB Corsair exact same set of ram I had at a bin store and bought it for a whopping… $5.
I have no need for 64GB, but even a year ago $5 ram was just way too cheap to not buy.

Mine has 48GB. Started with 16, but a few years ago the pc started crashing/freezing randomly. I assumed it was because of bad ram, so I just bought a new set of 32GB, since it was pretty cheap, but the crashes continued after switching to the new ram. So I added the old 2x8gb sticks back in and now I have 48.
Turned out it was the cpu that was bad.

Same here. Should have went for two 2 To SSDs instead of one too by the looks of it…
