The only multiplayer I would ever want is co-op in FarCry. This is just sad, they’re so desperately trying to just make profit go up, while completely ignoring what made the series great in the first place. I played 5, and while it was fun it was so repetitive and boring that I knew unless they seriously went back to their roots I wouldn’t be going back.
Far Cry series will push multiplayer "more predominantly" going forwards, according to Ubisoft boss

Lol, wut? The entire point of the Far Cry series is the single player.
Though it has been clear for awhile the single player experience in Far Cry games has been going downhill. With this announcement, any shred of worth in the series is clearly in the past.

Not to be that guy, but this is incorrect. The first Far Cry titles had impressive map editors on console. It was so much fun building, sharing, and playing them over xbconnect back in the day. I would love to see the return of this, but I’m sure the implementation will be something more along the lines of live service enshittification.

I didn’t even know there was multiplayer in Far Cry games even though I finished all of them.
