first, this is s builtin dolution and more lightweight. it also provies enterprise hooks that can be accessed by defender or endpoint. an api for windows apps to launch containers. docker creates one vm to run all your containers. these new ones are containers that live idependent of anything else.

it’s pretty much already there. you can essentially run windows via linux right now. on one of my machines I have a Windows 11 install with Arch Linux in an WSL2. I can manage and run/install/whatever on the windows machine via an Arch Linux prompt. and with stuff like winget and scoop that also works via Arch it’s easy.

WSL is really useful. These days I have to bounce around between Windows, Linux, FreeBSD and MacOS, so the fewer OS-specific commands I need to learn, the better. WSL with Debian in it saves me from having to properly learn PowerShell.
