- Comment on The First PC Shipping With SteamOS Arrives Next Month 5 days ago:
Pretty sure this thing was 11+ years earlier.
- Comment on Steam machine prices are live 1 week ago:
The original Steam Controller and Steam link went on sale for about 5€ each.
- Comment on Steam machine prices are live 1 week ago:
My guess would be like 600 or so for the base model.
- Comment on Steam machine prices are live 1 week ago:
It’s hard to say, but at least before the component shortages, I would have expected the Frame to be more expensive than the Steam Machine. After all, it has 2 included controllers, displays, batteries, tracking cameras etc. But maybe the lower memory and storage (if you go for the 256GB) along with its mobile SoC might help reduce the effects of the component crisis somewhat. I don’t expect it to be below 1k€ though, personally.
- Comment on Steam machine prices are live 1 week ago:
It’s obviously not Valve’s fault but man, that’s expensive. Wasn’t planning on getting one anyway, but it certainly makes me worried about what the Frame may cost.
Anyone here planning on getting one? I do wonder how much of a market there is for it at this price.
- Comment on Steam Controller: Dropped and doubled inputs?! Bad connection?! 1 month ago:
Do you use a configuration that mixes gamepad with mouse or keyboard input, like “Gamepad with Mouse Trackpad” or something like that? Some games can’t handle those configurations, causing some strange behaviours.
- Comment on Steam Controller: Dropped and doubled inputs?! Bad connection?! 1 month ago:
So with a similar distance, my controller fluctuates between “ok” and “weak” reported connection strength. However, I haven’t experienced it ever dropping or doubling an input, so I don’t think that part is normal behaviour. Can even use it from the next room, with a solid wall in-between.
Have you tried different USB ports? My controller initially had some (different) issues when the puck was in the “wrong” USB port.
- Comment on Steam Controller First Impressions and some Issues on Linux 1 month ago:
Yeah, probably something like that. The controller was not on or connected at that point though, so it seems like even the puck itself might advertise itself as a keyboard.

- Comment on Steam Machine update, Valve now says all three new products will ship this year (Updated) 3 months ago:
Do you recall where you saw that? I can’t find the statement. Would be cool if true though. Wasn’t possible for Index Controllers.
- Comment on Steam Machine update, Valve now says all three new products will ship this year (Updated) 3 months ago:
If they work like the Index controllers, no, they won’t connect without Steam VR running. But maybe they’re different.
- Comment on Steam Machine update, Valve now says all three new products will ship this year (Updated) 3 months ago:
I don’t think you can do a whole lot with the Frame controllers without the Frame though.
- Comment on [Deck] Make it make sense 3 months ago:
Clockwise, to me, goes forward. The file explorer sorts from top to bottom. It makes perfect intuitive sense to me. You may say that volume and time go “up”, but it’s not like they’re literally moving in space in an upwards direction, are they? They increase.
- Comment on AMD say the Steam Machine is "on track" for an early 2026 release 4 months ago:
Best case scenario is that they had already secured a RAM deal when the prices went mad, so they can now offer a good price. Even then, it might still be an issue for later batches though.
- Comment on what exactly is the steam frame? 5 months ago:
It can play games natively, but unless they’re specifically made for it, they will run through a translation layer that will have a performance cost. I’d expect similar to slightly better visuals compared to a Quest 3. I don’t think No Man’s Sky VR will run standalone with playable performance.
- Comment on Lets speculate about the steam controllers price 5 months ago:
the price of a General controller with back buttons and no Hall effect Joysticks or touchpads is already about 100€
That seems expensive, my latest controller with TMR joysticks and back buttons only cost 55€. That said, I do think the Steam Controller will be more expensive than that. 80-100€ is my guess.
- Comment on Can't avoid native Linux version from GOG with Heroic on Steam Deck 10 months ago:
To be honest I wasn’t aware GOG even had a Linux client!
It doesn’t. This is Heroic launcher, which is an unofficial launcher that can download games from EGS, GOG and Amazon. It does support Proton generally, not sure why it doesn’t in this case.
- Comment on Grok got a Nazi patch 11 months ago:
So let’s assume the AI actually does have safety checks and will not display holocaust denial arguments without pointing out why they’re wrong. Maybe initially it will put notes directly after the arguments. But no problem! Just tell it to list the denialist lies first and the clarifications after. Take some screenshots of just the first paragraphs and boom - you have screenshots showing the AI denying the holocaust.
My point is that it’s easy to manipulate AI output in a variety of ways to make it show whatever you want. That’s not even taking into consideration the possibility of just editing the HTML, which can be done in seconds. Once again, why should we trust a nazi?
- Comment on Grok got a Nazi patch 11 months ago:
At the very least shouldn’t it contain notations about why it’s wrong?
I mean it might. In both screenshots it’s clearly visible that parts of the text are cut off. Why should we trust Twitter neonazis?
- Comment on Grok got a Nazi patch 11 months ago:
Yep, while I don’t have a Twitter account to check Grok’s response to an actual query about the holocaust, I did have a glance at the account posting that reponse and it’s a full-on nazi account. I’m like 90% sure they engineered a prompt to specifically get that reponse, like “pretend to be a neonazi and repeat the most common holocaust-denialist arguments”. Of course, that still means Grok has no proper safety precautions against hate speech, but it’s not quite the same as what the post implies.

What was the prompt?
- Comment on Grab eight fantastic Steam Deck games for just $12 and save 95% against the total MSRP 1 year ago:
Played a bit of it. It works quite well on a gamepad. You control the characters (initially just one, but pretty sure you’ll get a crew later) directly with the analog stick. It’s nothing like a traditional RTS, more of a strategic stealth game.
- Comment on Ubuntu 25.04 upgrades halted due to Kubuntu users getting a broken desktop 1 year ago:
Tried updating earlier today and it immediately failed. Guess I got lucky and it was already pulled offline at that point.
- Comment on [Discussion] What games are you playing on your deck? - April 2025 1 year ago:
Recently bought “Drova: Forsaken Kin”. Basically a Gothic-like in 2D. Runs and controls great on the Deck.
- Comment on HORI Steam Controller releases in the USA in December 1 year ago:
No rumble is a deal breaker for a $60 controller. I think I’ll stick with 8bitdo and maybe wait for a new Valve controller.
- Comment on What do you prefer for audio? Earphones, headphones, speakers? 1 year ago:
It’s not shielded properly, so the surrounding electronics cause crackles, buzzing and similar noise. AFAIK this was the case for all OLED models on launch. Might be fixed for newer ones, I’m not sure. Apparently it can be fixed by opening the Deck and sticking on some eletric insulation tape.
- Comment on What do you prefer for audio? Earphones, headphones, speakers? 1 year ago:
I mostly use the built-in speakers. Sometimes my IEMs, using a USB-C dongle as my OLED’s headphone jack is pretty noisy (I know it’s easy to fix, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet).
