Lots of other companies are laying folks off. It’s the result of bad decision making after planning like COVID would never stop. CIG is just another tech company.

- Comment on Paradox Interactive Closes Tectonic Studio The Same Week It Canceled Its First Game, Life By You 5 months ago:
None anymore. Cities Skylines and Imperator were the breaking point for a few. The slow burn DLC used to be fine when each added depth to gameplay, new ways to try wide and tall playthroughs, revamped existing mechanics to rebalance the meta, etc. But now, it’s all unit models and art pages from the intern’s sketchbook. There is nothing of value being included.
The most galling part is when the unit models and music variety is mixed in with a weak mechanical change or token nation/culture addition that does nothing to gameplay. Now, 10 years after their shift to be Sweden’s EA, they’ve succeeded in being as scummy without the money to show for it.
- Comment on Life By You devs spent “a month in purgatory” prior to closure, says laid-off designer, despite their sim-like exceeding Paradox's expectations 5 months ago:
Big publisher? Valve, I guess. Smaller publishers like Coffee Stain, Team 17, and Devolver, etc. seem to be customer focused with their releases. For some reason, at a certain scale of game, the publishers become obsessed with milking their customers instead of content with a straightforward trainsaction.

Paradox hates devs as much as it love stringing along its customers. I love the games they put out but Paradox is a blight.
- Comment on Captain Price seems to die in a cut ending from Modern Warfare 3, uncovered 13 years later 6 months ago:
COD4:MW had an actually good story with incredible use of action set pieces like missiles launching, a nuke going off, and the now legendary AC-130 section that was almost an idle game in the middle of a shooter. The story was so good that it grabbed folks in the industry and after almost 20 years later it is still relevant.
Every other game tried to copy the style but none managed to actually replicate the critical success of the single player shooter. Especially when the buzz was around the genre defining multiplayer.
Call of Duty:Modern Warfare is a stunning game and well worth the effort to get through the story. The rest… retread the same territory as the GOAT.
- Comment on The MSI Claw is an embarrassment 7 months ago:
Those other manufacturers didn’t launch a new controller design. Valve did. It was fine and they learned how to make it great. Valve learned by experimenting with shape, button locations, track pads themselves were entirely new; it must have been a wild time in those hardware labs.
The funny thing is that reviews at the time mentions the track pad as being inspired but under baked on the Steam controller. Valve iterated and came up with something great. AYANEO just had their first attempt. Let’s see how much they learn.
- Comment on Square Enix shifting from "quantity to quality" and be more multi-platform 7 months ago:
It took Squeenix this long to realize that shoveling as much crap as they could out the door isn’t good for long term customer retention? And only now they are aware of the money console games can make when published to PC:
they said clearly in regards to expanding digital sales that “the Group will engage in initiatives which focus on the acquisition of PC users”.
The PC game market is vast and diffuse and no one has the patience for bullshit business. Good luck.

- Comment on Batman game that became Shadow of Mordor footage surfaces online 8 months ago:
It was. It created an amazing amount of unique stories for each players. I played the game twice but only finished it once. The second time was to make my own villain who became absolutely terrifying to see on the world map. My love for the Nemesis system was cemented by having that orc actually sneak up on me. I could see him wandering through the map and get closer and closer until the pin on the map disappeared - then he jumped out and ambushed me. I’ve never seen anything like it and loved being a badass with a personal bad guy who rivalled me.

- Comment on Warner Bros. leave developers feeling "sick and dizzy" as more Adult Swim games are being delisted 9 months ago:
Each development contract is different but they usually follow the same rough structure. The publisher puts up the money for the development of the game. The developers code and make the game. When they are done they give the finished product to the publisher who markets and arranges distribution.
The publisher most likely owns the rights to the game so selling it outside of WB isn’t legal, which stops Steam and most reputable stores. The devs are watching years of their lives being swept under the rug and probably deleted if no one has a copy of the game. WB has not said anything about relisting any games so it’s very possible their work is being deleted forever. They have put in months of crunch to meet a deadline, sacrificed relationships and events to ensure their contributions to the game with the belief the game would be as good as it was going to be. Now it means nothing because the game is going away.
It’s incredibly disrespectful to the time, talent, and energy the developers have put into the game and should sour devs from working for other publishers who do the same. However, shovelware exists because some devs just want a paycheck, so this will probably not stop cut throat devs from making a minimum viable product by a deadline.
Ultimately this is the world we live in: the money owns the rights and so makes the decisions that others have to live by. If you are upset by this, think of a new way to do it and try it out. Be the change.

Citrus as a flavor is sour with a bittersweet finish. Ginger has spice notes and a post nasal what that blends well with the bittersweet of the citrus. The sweet orange and spiced ginger flavor hints at Christmas flavors. Overall it’s a solid flavor combo that is most seen around winter holidays.
