- Comment on Nintendo Switch emulator Ryujinx gets shut down 2 months ago:
Well, I guess this cinches it - I’m never buying another Nintendo product.
I was already on the fence, as I still wanted to support innocent developers who happen to be part of a shitty company. I even bought a Switch and every game I pirated so I could have a clean conscience when playing them on my Steam Deck.
Not anymore! I’m putting Nintendo squarely in my list of publishers to ignore. It’s a small gesture, meaningless to a megacorp like them, but it’s enough for me.
Fuck you, Nintendo. You used to be cool.
- Comment on Heaven 17 composer calls out Rockstar over alleged lowball GTA 6 music offer 3 months ago:
Oh, did GTA IV have multiplayer? That’s the one I’m least familiar with. Must not have been nearly as robust as GTA V’s.
GTA V made online the core component of it’s game. So much so, that they innitially considered GTA Online to be a seperate game included with GTA V.
You contradicted yourself there. GTA Online can’t be both a core component of GTA V and a standalone game.
So Rockstar, who already had the most financially successful game of all time in GTA V from game sales alone, put its resources into the online component in order to fund the development of its sequel. It’s not like they needed to attract new players to the single player game, being, again, that it was the most successful game of all time. Technically it was the most successful media venture of all time (it made more money than any movie, music, or game ever).
If they hadn’t done that, GTA VI and RDR 2 would’ve had smaller budgets and likely wouldn’t have been as good.
I see nothing wrong with this.
- Comment on Heaven 17 composer calls out Rockstar over alleged lowball GTA 6 music offer 3 months ago:
Only one GTA game has had an online component. Every GTA game since 3 has been a best-in-class, genre/generation-defining singleplayer experience.
You pay for the singleplayer. The online bit is just gravy. Some people like said gravy enough to fund the development of Rockstar’s next game. I see nothing wrong with this.

Oh no! Yamcha got Yamcha’d!
- Comment on How do you download your game on SD OLED? 5 months ago:
I wouldn’t be too worried about burn-in. You’d have to display the same static image at max brightness nonstop for a month straight, according to this article.
- Comment on BioWare's Mark Darrah thinks Veilguard is the first Dragon Age where "the combat's actually fun" 5 months ago:
'Bout time. The combat in the games has been what’s kept me from completing any of them. Great stories and characters, but tedious and boring gameplay.
With this news, it’s official: I am hyped.
- Comment on Starfield will get at least one more expansion after Shattered Space, Todd Howard says 5 months ago:
I hate to say it, 'cause Bethesda has been very influential throughout my gaming life, but it’s too little too late. Starfield is entirely unsalvageable without a complete overhaul and re-release using an upgraded engine that can actually handle the scope of the game.

So this is why Hogwarts Legacy didn’t have playable quidditch.
- Comment on Games my toddler can watch me play 7 months ago:
My little one just past toddlerhood has a few games they love to watch me play on my Steam Deck. These aren’t all Verified, but they all run perfectly out of the box. Use ProtonDB for a more accurate idea of a game’s Deck compatibility (Verified status has failed me in the past).

Donut County (already mentioned, but a great one worth mentioning twice)
-
Everything (one you unlock all the powers, it becomes a sandbox game where you can do things like gather a large group of caterpillars, make them dance, and turn them into streetlights (which can still dance), or turn an entire planet into a planet-sized space caterpillar, or turn a dust mite into a microscopic building, etc. In my save, about 20% of all matter in the universe is caterpillars.)
-
LEGO Worlds (basically LEGO Minecraft with less survival, more control, and smaller worlds that can be swapped between at any time. Can be very fun for little ones to use the free DLC vehicles to blast holes all over a world, make tunnels, etc.)
-
Tchia (Zelda BotW mechanics with very little combat (and the only combat is with enchanted scraps of cloth) and the ability to jump into and control any creature (dolphins, birds, cats). It’s got some nice family-friendly options, like infinite special meter, no death, and family mode for cutscenes (though there isn’t anything too bad, regardless))
-
Webbed (a 2D platformer where you play as a spider with Spider-Man-esque movement. Fun for kids unafraid of spiders to make big, climbable webs, and maybe good to help kids become less afraid of spiders, as it’s pretty cute)

- Comment on New Decky plugin lets you enable/disable individual BT devices waking your OLED Steam Deck 9 months ago:
Ooh, I like this. No more accidentally waking my Deck because I nudged my Switch Pro Controller.
- Comment on OLED Bluetooth Wake with Steam Controller? 9 months ago:
I’m not sure if it’s the same with a Steam Controller, but for Xbox controllers, you have to ‘forget’ your controller in Bluetooth settings then reconnect it every time you restart the console to get wake on Bluetooth to work. An annoyance, certainly, but you shouldn’t have to restart your console very often, except for OS updates.
Or you can switch your SteamOS branch from Stable to Beta. That bug is fixed in the Beta branch.
- Comment on How one unexpected game (Nier Automata) changed the Steam Deck forever 9 months ago:
Really interesting stuff. Just goes to show how one person really can make a difference.
- Comment on [Discussion] What were your favorite and least favorite games you played on Deck in 2023? 11 months ago:
My most pleasant surprise on the Deck this year has been Shadow of War. It plays on high settings at a smooth, consistent 60FPS, even in big battles. As a fan of its predecessor, Shadow of Mordor, I’ve been loving it!
Worst was definitely American Truck Simulator. I’d been interested in the game for a long while, and finally decided to buy it when it was only $5. I got about halfway through the tutorial before I refunded it and added it to my Ignore list.
