- Comment on Please let Pillars Of Eternity's surprise turn-based mode spark a wave of turn-based updates for all other games 3 days ago:
Turn-based games are incredible when you frequently have to pause. When it’s slow at work I’ll occasionally play a turn-based game (Cobalt Core most recently) because I can walk away any time if I get a call. It also makes me feel so bad when I’m playing an unpausable game and my dog waddles up looking for attention. Not a parent myself but my dad friends had to put real time games down for awhile when their kids were born.

- Comment on HP hasn't made an OMEN gaming handheld because of Windows, but they are open to making a SteamOS-powered handheld 6 days ago:
I’m on the AV side of things and am currently dealing with their cameras not working with the 3rd party extenders that HP recommended. And why do they need these extenders at all? Because they’re USB in 2025 and Poly refuses to make their own.
We have 20 different installs going on with the exact same setup and HP is just like “huh that’s weird!”
Bonus rant: before HP bought them, Poly had normal SKUs. Like you knew what the product was based on the SKU. You knew if it was hardware or a service line. Now, the Poly E70 (shit camera btw) for example has the SKU “67J25AA#ABA.” The E60 is "9W1A6AA#AC3.
I asked our rep directly what the fuck was going on with this garbage and he told me HP stuck all the products on a spreadsheet and basically assigned the SKUs randomly. There is no rhyme or reason.

I work with HP (Poly) on a daily basis and I will never own one of their products. They’re a pain to work with and their products are outclassed by less expensive options.
Fuck HP. Trash company.

So you were stewing on it for 22 hours, huh?
We agree on the argument you shifted to - they barely delivered the game they promised on day 1. But that wasn’t what your first comment said. You said the game was starting to almost approach what they promised before launch.
For at least 5 years, the game has been a few minor features away from everything they promised…while adding a ton more they didn’t promise. Do those missing features means the game isn’t at it’s promised state? You’d be pedantic to buy it would be understandable? Do those missing features means the game isn’t 99.99% complete? You’d be a fool to. And you were a fool.
Feel free to get the last word in here.

You and this other guy sure are stuck on a point I wasn’t making. What’s that about?

Can’t believe I’m wasting my time on this conversation but here’s a spreadsheet from 5 years ago showing what was promised, what was there at launch, and what was there when the list was made for reference.
I haven’t played in a few years so I don’t know what’s changed (aside from unique ships) but that’s a pretty complete list. Sure it’s missing a few minor things but are you really going to pretend it fell so short of its goals?
No, you’re not. That’s why you shifted to talking about the sad state of the game at launch…something no one is saying isn’t true.
You changed the subject.

Your first complaint was that the game still isn’t complete, now your complaint is that they’re fraudsters for not delivering it on day 1.

It’s not a bit of a stretch. It’s ok that you don’t like it, though

Ok? You know that your original complaint was wrong so you shifted to a new one?

Sounds like you formed an opinion on the game years ago and ignored everything about it since. The game’s been pretty good for years now, it had its redemption arc before Cyberpunk made it cool
They were definitely late on delivering for sure but they’ve gone beyond catching up at this point

- Comment on Should devs tell people about launch bugs in advance? “It’s an interesting problem” says Starfield and Skyrim designer 5 months ago:
Just delay the release and finish the game. I’m not paying to be a beta tester. I want the game-breaking AND immersion-breaking AND fps-reducing bugs fixed before launch. Games are expensive and while I don’t think that’s a bad thing, there’s still a bar I expect it to pass before it feels like a good value.

It’s pretty fun so far. I’ve only been to 2 zones but both are really nice. My friend said Hollowfall (?) is the best zone they’ve ever made which feels like really high praise since he’s played every expansion and has been fairly critical of retail…he might even quit SoD for TWW
