- Comment on Best deck games for a flight? (as in...possibly running on batteries) 2 months ago:
Here’s a similar question, my answer should also be relevant to your question.
As for Switch emulation, yuzu still runs great, with many playable games on the deck. If you don’t have the AppImage or Flatpak already, make sure to get it from a reputable source.
- Comment on Potential Super Cheap Charger - Ikea SJOSS 3 months ago:
Although it probably doesn’t matter in this case, it’s worth noting that your hub/dock and all connected accessories use power from your charger too. For example my laptop reports my 65w charger as 45w with my USB-C dock in between.
In your case this could mean your deck only getting 30W, which would be fine for less demanding games, but with a full load could mean barely charging / not charging at all.
- Comment on [Discussion] Some good budget wireless controller for the Deck?? 3 months ago:
I use Dual Shock 4s for all my PC gaming. They have all the features you’d expect, work with most apps and games (and there’s DS4Windows for the rest), the bluetooth makes them great not only for something like the SteamDeck but also my phone, a friends iPad, …
And the best thing is I can pick one up used for around 20€.
- Comment on Which steam deck 3 months ago:
I believe the OLED screen is thinner, so they had more space for the battery. And then they also improved the efficiency of the SoC.
- Comment on Which steam deck 3 months ago:
Another big factor with the OLED deck is that it gets significantly more battery life. Especially in less demanding games, you can get 2x or even 3x the battery life of the LCD version (cries in LCD deck).
As for storage size, if you’re comfortable replacing the internal M.2 SSD, I believe you can save a bit of money there by buying the smallest size model (+ you get a bonus smaller SSD which can be nice for some projects). There is an ifixit guide for it.
If you’re not up for that and still want to save money, the micro SD card support is supposed to really good and practically indistinguishable from the internal SSD from what I’ve heard, but I haven’t yet tried it myself.
- Comment on [Discussion] EmuDeck - Yuzu Citra, So what now? 3 months ago:
As they said (at least on their Discord server), EmuDeck won’t be deleting your yuzu.
Now that yuzu is dead anyway, I went ahead and replaced my mainline build with the latest early access build from Pineapple EA (afaik the repo is just some guy who compiled yuzu whenever there was a new early access build or something like that).
If you want to do that too, the AppImage should be in
/home/deck/Applications
, you just have to make sure the new one has the exact same name as the old one and that the new one is executable. Or you could also backup the yuzu AppImage from there if you’re paranoid. - Comment on Favorite games for traveling? 3 months ago:

- Comment on Outside of gaming, how do you guys use your Steam Deck? 3 months ago:
I use an app called FreeTube, I believe it uses Piped in some way and integrates SponsorBlock and DeArrow. You can install it through Discover and then add it to your Steam Library and use it in game mode (and the Web browser Steam Input config).

I really enjoyed Dave the Diver on my deck, I’m only 9h in but didn’t play for a while due to lack of time.
Another one that isn’t really my thing but uses practically no battery is Minecraft through PrismLauncher (I don’t like playing Minecraft on controller).
And some other games from my library that play nicely on deck, some might take a little bit more power:
- Celeste
- Geometry Dash (especially with the new platformer levels)
- Hue (might be a bit boring, I got it for free)
- Pole (might be a bit frustrating, I got it for free)
- Rayman Legends (there’s a certain patch to make it run without uplay)
- Stardew Valley
- Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion
- Turnip Boy Robs a Bank
- Undertale
- Comment on Jellyin app on steam deck allows screen to dim 5 months ago:
I have the same issue, also no idea how to fix it.
I did recently discover that touching the joysticks or trackpads is enough to un-dimm the screen again, you don’t have to press any buttons and make all the UI elements pop up again.
