Looks cool, I almost considered buying it, but I am put off by the long runbacks.
- Comment on Linux VRAM management set for more improvements with kernel 7.3 3 days ago:
Doesn’t Nvidia have Prime for their Linux drivers built in now? I remember you used to have to fuck around with Bumblebee, now that was a hassle.
I guess if you don’t have an Nvidia GPU it’s still a hassle.
- Comment on Make every shot count in Perihelion: Rogue Orbit, a space roguelite with EVE-style transversal combat 1 week ago:
EVE has underrated combat mechanics to be honest, so I’m surprised there haven’t been more attempts to make games inspired by them. Managing your transversal and tracking of yours and the enemy’s weapons is quite fun.
- Comment on Saber admit Rideshare "Stimulator" features generative AI writing, but deny they replaced taxi game's lead writer with ChatGPT 1 week ago:
I knew there was something off about the writing in that game from the trailer.
- Comment on Fire Watch with me - Firewatch (2016) Review 1 week ago:
Because it’s on .ml and cm doesn’t want people to go there. Notice how this wasn’t made using the actual cross-posting function.
- Comment on What're you playing right now? 2 weeks ago:
I’m at the last bit of The Drifter, which I’ve been enjoying immensely. In the latter half some of the puzzles did start get a little convoluted (though maybe I’m just stupid) but overall it’s been an incredible pulp thriller ride underpinned by mostly logical puzzles. Beautiful art, sharp writing and excellent voice acting. The story is a fun ride too.
I’ve also been playing some Wanted: Dead. It’s an interesting mess of a game. I already ranted about it over in the PatientGamers community weekly thread. In a different universe this could have been a cult classic. The combat is still decent enough even with all the flaws.
- Comment on Making Baldur’s Gate 4 would be "a great challenge" for Rogue Trader devs Owlcat, co-founder says, as the studio reiterate their commitment to CRPGs 2 weeks ago:
Do we really need more Baldur’s Gates? The story was finished in Throne of Bhaal, then Larian dug the corpse up and put a mindflayer brainworm in it, and now it’s finished again. Just tap into the oodles of other Dungeons and Dragons settings for the next game. Why not adapt the Dragonlance novels into games? Or call it something else if you stay in Forgotten Realms, let this franchise rest.
Ah, I’m sorry I’m just shouting at clouds. Who wants a new IP when you can cash in on a successful established brand and squeeze some wallets until they bleed. That’s my bad, I forgot myself and the current state of things for a second. And I mean, it already worked for BG3 so fuck it, run it back I guess.
- Comment on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Cost of Hope DLC releases in August along with a big free upgrade 3 weeks ago:
I’m cautiously optimistic. I really hope this is the big redemption, sort of like Phantom Liberty/2.0 for Cyberpunk.
I’m starting to look forward to a second playthrough.

It’s been a while since the latest Friendslop game, last summer was PEAK and I guess this is what people are doing this year.

- Comment on The Witcher 3 online mod adds multiplayer Gwent battles in its latest update, a bit like CD Projekt's Gwent game but with more losers being ridden around by winners 2 months ago:
I’m definitely curious how that plays out. The version of Gwent in Witcher 3 is very fun but… I don’t know if I’d call balanced.
- Comment on Whether you believe it or not, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi says the end's been planned from the start 2 months ago:
At least the remakes won’t have to suffer from the same affliction as Kingdom Hearts, whereby everyone believes creator Testuya Nomura is making it up as he goes along
Yes, I’m glad the FF7R games are far removed from the Nomura/Najima dream team and there is no need to worry about that problem.
- Comment on Xbox Gaming CSO Pitches Ads in Games as "Affordable Alternative" 2 months ago:
I can’t really go by playtime, because I tend to beat a game and move on to a new experience. But Withering Rooms was like 2023, that’s another one I am completely obsessed with. Death Howl from last year was also amazing. Darkwood is I guess 2010s but I am (trying) to play it right now, also phenomenal. With some notable exceptions I feel like my most memorable gaming experiences are indie games nowadays.
- Comment on Xbox Gaming CSO Pitches Ads in Games as "Affordable Alternative" 2 months ago:
Titanium Court is the best game I’ve played all year and it’s currently only €9.99. Indie games keep completely dominating the value proposition in gaming.
- Comment on Witcher 3 modders are restoring the RPG's massive cut plague questline, just in case CD Projekt's Songs of the Past expansion isn't enough extra Geralt 2 months ago:
This looks amazing, actually. While I usually don’t allow myself the luxury of replaying games this long, a mod like this (combined with the upcoming DLC) might make me reconsider.
- Comment on Thief: The Dark Project Remastered announced by Atari / Nightdive Studios 2 months ago:
This has the potential to be incredible. I trust Nightdive.
- Comment on Control Resonant release date? Yeah that's nice, now move aside so I can look at its system requirements and ohhh that's a lot of SSD space 2 months ago:
Wasn’t there a CoD or Battlefield game or something that was several hundreds of GBs some year or two ago? I want to say ~100 GB is about what you can expect for a AAA title these days, unfortunately.
- Comment on "Make the past less permanent": Tattoo Removal Simulator is a surprisingly poignant take on the PowerWash clean-up genre 2 months ago:
I love this idea. Powerwash Simulator-like is maybe not my genre of choice, but this seems like such a great vehicle for environmental storytelling. It’s actually a genius idea, and I feel like there is a lot that you could do with return customers and ongoing updates in their life stories. In a way, it would be even better if you were both removing and adding new tattoos, depending on what is happening in the lives of your customers.

A roguelike entirely based on rotating shapes? Northernlion might actually get an aneurysm.
- Comment on 2D Platformer "Mina the Hollower" Early Reviews Top 2026 Review Ratings 2 months ago:
Indie game with unbelievably good reviews launching at just €20? This has been a kryptonite for me before. I need to be strong, my backlog is calling.
- Comment on Remedy's new CEO doesn't want to "change the DNA" of the Control studio, but he does still think their games "could give a lot more" 2 months ago:
I think the only weapon I didn’t use a lot was the Shatter, the shotgun one. Grip, Pierce and Spin I was all using a lot. And both grenade launchers were fun, I prefer the one from the AWE DLC though.
As far as powers go I probably used the shield the most, even though I also did use telekinesis a lot, not the least to heal. I also liked the slam dash.
- Comment on Remedy's new CEO doesn't want to "change the DNA" of the Control studio, but he does still think their games "could give a lot more" 2 months ago:
Max Payne does still hold up. I disagree on gameplay in Control though, I thought there was plenty of action and the action was good. I do agree though that Jesse was a fairly weak protagonist. The focus is clearly on the Oldest House, and they wanted a straight man lead to contrast with the weirdness, but to me it didn’t quite work as they ended up with a protagonist that wasn’t all that compelling. I still loved the world building.
Also, Alan Wake 2 is a very competent survival horror mechanically. Remedy can do really good gameplay. Hell, even Quantum Break was alright gameplay wise, despite mostly being a dress rehearsal for Control.
- Comment on Squabble over Disco Elysium's legacy continues as Hopetown studio recruit another ex-ZA/UM dev while dropping a new trailer on Zero Parades' release day 2 months ago:
I was kind of shocked and saddened that Martin Luiga joined Longdue after all of Longdue’s hostile behaviour towards Argo Tuulik. I think the thing that makes me the most depressed about the whole post-Disco implosion is that the friend group of Robert Kurvitz, Martin Luiga and Argo Tuulik seems to have fallen apart. It was their TTRPG sessions that created the world of Elysium and it’s such a shame we’ll most likely never see them collaborate on anything again.
- Comment on Valve make adjustments to Steam tags, and they settled the Vampire Survivor-like argument with Bullet Heaven 2 months ago:
Bullet Hell is a thing already, Bullet Heaven is the new genre pioneered by Vampire Survivors. It replaces "Vampire Survivors-like’.
- Comment on Valve make adjustments to Steam tags, and they settled the Vampire Survivor-like argument with Bullet Heaven 2 months ago:
Some of the removals are great (you shouldn’t be able to tag your game “Well-Written” or “Masterpiece”) but some I don’t understand. But I can’t say I have encyclopedic knowledge of all the tags that exist so maybe most of the removed ones are already covered elsewhere.
Also yes, Bullet Heaven is a great genre name.
- Comment on [Eurogamer] Mixtape review 3 months ago:
A good write-up, I suppose, but I think maybe I just don’t agree with all of it. But I’ve said before, I think this game just isn’t for me. At several points in the review something is pointed out in the manner of “this thing sounds bad, but it’s actually good” whereas I react more like “no, that still sounds bad to me”. Like this:
One of Mixtape’s few flaws is that it can occasionally slip into plainly stating its themes out loud, its teen protagonists coming out with sudden profundities well beyond their years. But this is also, like a lot of Mixtape’s excesses, part of its charm.
I’ve seen some footage of it (though admittedly not all of the game), and this was irking me a lot. But maybe I’m just wrong here? Maybe a game about teenagers where the teenagers don’t speak like teenagers is actually better?
I don’t know, there is something off about the whole thing. The article even hints about it: it’s millennial nostalgia bait for a time millennials have no memories of being a teenager in. It doesn’t seem to explore the realities of being a teenager as much as indulge in the imagined ideal of being a teenager in a 90s Americana movie. But I don’t know, maybe my teenage years just overly sucked and that’s why I can’t relate.
Maybe I need to play it to get it.
- Comment on Civilization VII Update Will Finally Let Players Stay as One Civ Through All Ages, as Take-Two Boss Admits: 'We Got It Wrong' 3 months ago:
I agree. Simplified enough without losing track of what it should be, still the best visual style, no more death stacks…
- Comment on "It's expensive and it doesn't age": Why Ken Levine didn't aim for realistic graphics in BioShock, and won't for Judas either 3 months ago:
(…) BioShock still looks good because it wasn’t trying to get every nut and bolt super realistically rendered. It was a style."
Totally agreed, and the same goes for almost every other game with stylized graphics too (well, the good ones). Art direction trumps graphical fidelity every time, and stylized graphics don’t run into the uncanny valley problem of attempted (but not quite successful) photorealistic graphics.
- Comment on PlayStation 3 emulator RPCS3 devs battling "AI slop code pull requests" 3 months ago:
Isn’t this the case for most open source projects with open PRs these days? I’m not a dev but that’s what I’ve heard from those who are.
