Ah that seems like a good guess
- Comment on Epic Games just laid off over 1,000 people 5 hours ago:
Increasingly? Does this mean sex 2 is finally coming out? 😳
- Comment on Epic Games just laid off over 1,000 people 6 hours ago:
Anyone know what this is referring to?
games competing for time against other increasingly-engaging forms of entertainment.
- Comment on "As soon as it fired up, he'd get up and go to lunch": How Age of Empires' developers tested mission difficulty 4 days ago:
This kind of thing sounds a bit obvious, but it’s actually a really good test for all kinds of games. Basically, how effective is it for the player to do no action? It’s more effective than it should be sometimes if it’s not accounted for.
- Comment on After listening to your complaints, Bungie is making it just a tad less annoying to buy cosmetics in Marathon 2 weeks ago:
This is an obnoxiously common practice, but this might be the most dickish version of it I’ve ever seen. That’s so barely over the amount wtf
- Comment on Slay The Spire 2's placeholder art should be a lesson to all the developers caught up in AI-generated nonsense 2 weeks ago:
It takes less time, too.
I’ve had to use AI on some client projects (I do graphic design), and I’ve found it to be quite a bit more time consuming than using stock art or placeholders, because there’s a level of pickiness that enters the picture when the client thinks they can have anything they can think of (they can’t, but they still try).
- Comment on Valve accused of "letting children and adults alike illegally gamble" via loot boxes in New York state lawsuit 3 weeks ago:
People were constantly saying this when I was a little kid. I’m 35 now.
- Comment on Microsoft's throne room rejigging has seen Sarah Bond take the bullet for marketing strategy which was "failing internally", report claims 4 weeks ago:
Things are definitely going to be way better now that she’s been replaced with an AI division executive! They even said they don’t want to use “bad AI”, so it’s definitely going to work out!

- Comment on US Supreme Court strike down majority of Trump's tariffs, so hopefully that's one less hardware buying headache to worry about 4 weeks ago:
Hell of a thing that I’m surprised when the highest court actually follows the law
- Comment on Highguard studio Wildlight confirm layoffs, after level designer claims "most of the team" have been let go 5 weeks ago:
Yeah I always think this stuff is sad. Even if the game wasn’t great, it just sucks to see hard work go to waste.
- Comment on Discord attempt to put out the fires with a clarification over new age verification 5 weeks ago:
But it’sadvanced, didn’t you read? 😉
- Comment on Why reviving the shuttered Anthem is turning out tougher than expected 1 month ago:
That engine really was a piece of work, huh?
- Comment on Mirror's Edge's iconic art style? Yeah, turns out it was sort of an accident 2 months ago:
Accident is weird to describe what’s in this article. It sounds like standard iteration that all creative works go through.
- Comment on POSTAL: Bullet Paradise gets cancelled over generative AI with Goonswarm Games shutting down 3 months ago:
If you can’t trust someone called goonswarm games, who can you trust? 😔
- Comment on Game Pass will "either kill everyone else, or give up", says Dishonored and Prey dev Arkane founder 8 months ago:
“The service will succeed or fail”. Not much of a hot take, even though I agree with his sentiment.
- Comment on Nintendo Switch 2 prices might climb due to tariff changes — US hikes Vietnam tariffs to 20%, up from 10% when the console launched 8 months ago:
Or better yet, don’t buy one at all
- Comment on Stellaris updates are slowing down to stop empires randomly destroying themselves, among other bugs 8 months ago:
I was pretty ambivalent about the subscription. I don’t like subs in general, but I joined stellaris a little late and the amount of money to get all the DLC is very daunting. I can see how as a new player it would be a good offer.
That being said rent to own is always going to be how it should be imo.
- Comment on Stellaris updates are slowing down to stop empires randomly destroying themselves, among other bugs 8 months ago:
Oof, yeah that performance point is rough.
Stellaris is such an interesting game to follow. I’ve never seen another game so willing to change major stuff regularly. It’s definitely got its upsides and downsides.
- Comment on The founders of Playdead are having a legal war over who made more of Limbo 8 months ago:
TLDR: he said she said, they’re going to court
- Comment on Stellaris updates are slowing down to stop empires randomly destroying themselves, among other bugs 8 months ago:
I saw the game got a lot of bad reviews lately. Was 4.0 that bad? I haven’t played for a while.
- Comment on Nexus Mods' new owner is a company whose co-founder has already had to reassure folks that NFTs and crypto aren't incoming 9 months ago:
Sad to see, but I was feeling it was only a matter of time for a while now. The mods could migrate but hard to replace the mod manager.
- Comment on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's story mode just got a lot easier, so more people can enjoy the year's best J'RPG 9 months ago:
This actually kind of irritates me. I’m one of the people who hasn’t enjoyed the timing window stuff, and set it to easy. It felt just right for me, but now with this patch things feel completely effortless. This should have been a new difficulty, not a change to the existing one.
- Comment on Lethal Company's next monster "does things that make absolutely no sense, just because it can" 9 months ago:
I really admire the creature design in this game. I don’t think any of the copy cats have ever nailed that as much even if they’ve done other things better.

Geoguesser is an esport?
- Comment on Roblox players are going to start getting paid to watch ads 11 months ago:
And by paid we mean given in-game cosmetics with no monetary value.
This is not a new thing at all. Mobile games have been using rewarded ads for years so I’m not sure why they’re acting like it’s some groundbreaking thing.
- Comment on Roblox CEO tells parents that “if you're not comfortable, don't let your kids be on Roblox”. 1 year ago:
That statement is fine in a vacuum, but I think the mega platform almost exclusively marketed towards children should also maybe not do child labor with extra steps. This guy isn’t being reasonable, he’s shifting blame.
- Comment on Indie devs have begun adding a no generative AI stamp to their store pages 1 year ago:
To be fair to the people protesting this isn’t what they’re objecting to. They don’t like tools which were built on theft, which all the major LLMs were. That’s the core issue, along with the fear that artists will be devalued and replaced because of them.
- Comment on New No Man's Sky update adds walkable gas giants among "trillions" of new planets, just in case you were running out 1 year ago:
They kept saying gas giants in the trailer and I was like “are you not going to show them?”
Finally realized the rocky worlds they were walking on were the “gas” giants. I’m sure they’re cool but they just looked like extra-stormy planets.
- Comment on Baldur's Gate 3 publishing director thinks GTA 6 might have the "clout" to normalise a $100 price tag 1 year ago:
Glad you had that last paragraph, because inflationary justifications are just hand waving when people’s income isn’t keeping pace. It’s not based in reality.
