Well that’s good news and you could maybe just reinstall everything if you don’t find another easier solution.

I’ve had something like this on a Playstation 3 controller a while ago.
It was a problem with some foam which got thinner with age and a contact patch.
I don’t know if the same thing could apply to a few years old Steam Deck, but the symptoms were exactly the same.
- Comment on [Discussion] What games are you playing on your Deck? - July 2025 1 week ago:
Well to be honest I only played with the Deck hooked to an external screen.
I forgot to mention it😇

I’ve been abducted By Frostpunk (on the deck), but now I’m finally getting out of it and enjoying some Wolfenstein (on ps5).
- Comment on Is the Steam Deck getting outdated soon? Should I wait for the next gen? 1 week ago:
As the Steam Deck isn’t new and is apparently struggling with some AAÀs, that’s why I got a used Steam Deck 2 months ago to run alongside my PS5.
I really don’t regret the move as I can play every future AAA I could want on the Playstation and so many games (including older AAÀs) on the Steam Deck.
For me it’s the perfect combo at under 1000.-(around 1000$).

I’m really looking forward to playing it again as it’s the only thing I had been missing on Playstation. Now that I have a Steam Deck, I’ll be getting it even if it means giving money to a bad company like Microsoft.
It was nice to do some coop on it on my 360 before it started killing all my discs.

Good argument too.
I guess they’re adavantages and inconvenients in every situation.
What you’re talking about could even happen on a physical game receiving an online update.

I had never thought about this but this is a great argument in favor of digital vs physical.
Still I prefer owning my games when given the choice.
- Comment on A few questions before getting a used Steam Deck after my wedding 2 months ago:
Thanks. I’ve seen a few sellers showing the battery health of their Deck, so I might choose one of these.

I’ll probably end up playing a lot of strategy games or ps3 era games on 720p with 30 fps on the big screen so I hope what you mentioned won’t be a problem.
I also hope it’ll be smooth jumping from portable mode to docked mode (a bit like the Switch).
- Comment on A few questions before getting a used Steam Deck after my wedding 2 months ago:
Yeah I kind of agree. What I wanted to say is that they are part of the games I would have wanted to play but never did. Sorry if it made you feel old 😅

It’s so cool to see that Valve is really trying to make it as repairable as possible.
- Comment on A few questions before getting a used Steam Deck after my wedding 2 months ago:
I’ll check into everything. Thanks!

Thanks for the precise answer

Nah I wouldn’t want to break it (the deck, not my wife)

- Comment on Using the Steam Deck docked has been a dreadful experience for me. Is it just me going wrong? 3 months ago:
Very interested in reading about this since I plan on getting a used LCD Deck and keep it docked (just through Usb-c, so without a dock in fact) a lot.

A new version of Plasma is great news for me as I plan on using my future Deck as a second computer beyond my Surface Go 1.
- Comment on Some questions before probably getting a Steam Deck 4 months ago:
Yeah I’ll probably just get used to it and it’ll also widen my Linux knowledge.
- Comment on Some questions before probably getting a Steam Deck 4 months ago:
In Switzerland, I can’t even get a new one from Valve, so no refurbished one sadly.
But luckily there are other stores.
- Comment on Some questions before probably getting a Steam Deck 4 months ago:
It’s probably what I’ll end up doing, but I just wanted to know what my options were.
- Comment on Some questions before probably getting a Steam Deck 4 months ago:
Oh I know this and I tried it a little bit in a VM and on an old computer I’m setting up for my son, but for me you’re never really experiencing a distro until you daily drive it😇

Thanks for the detailed answer!
It’s weird that Steam OS is still on KDE 5.2X and not using Wayland. I guess it’ll come.
I think I’ll really try to use KDE at the beginning until switching to Bazzite if I miss Gnome too much.

- Comment on Valves iFixit partnership is a game changer 1 year ago:
I have never bought anything from Valve/Steam as I’m a PlayStation gamer, but their support for Linux and repair ability makes me think about a Steam Deck when my Surface Go is gonna be too old (but it’ll last for quite a while since Fedora isn’t as demanding as Windows).
