Oh yeah the Deck can be a quite powerful desktop computer if you enjoy KDE.
I use it like this from time to time after configuring to behave like Gnome, but I prefer the original flavour.
- Comment on Resolution for output to monitor? 4 days ago:
If I see that the game needs some tweaking, I’ll try 720p at 60 or 30 fps.
You can dock your Deck, but I think you should think about it as an underpowered Playstation 4 or a turbocharged Playstation 3.
I also think that the docking experience isn’t so fluid if you dock it to a TV and use a console controller. When it’s docked to a PC monitor and wired keyboard/mouse, it’s smoother as you have less configuration to do.
- Comment on [Discussion] What are you playing on your Deck? - March 2026 1 week ago:
It’s a great game despite EA being behind it. I enjoyed the first one better, but I’m looking forward to the third installment.
- Comment on [Discussion] What are you playing on your Deck? - March 2026 1 week ago:
New Star GP. I gave it to my son but ended up playing it way more than him as it’s a quite complex game for an arcade racer.
Still, I’m trying to find other games to divert him from Fortnite and Roblox 😅
- Comment on AMD say the Steam Machine is "on track" for an early 2026 release 5 weeks ago:
I guess you’re right and you could also say that I didn’t really own these games since I can’t play them anymore because I don’t have PSPlus anymore.
- Comment on AMD say the Steam Machine is "on track" for an early 2026 release 5 weeks ago:
I don’t have the Playstation plus anymore but I never payed above 70$ and got a lot of free games with it.
Still, it wasn’t worth it to me as I mostly play single player games except some racing sims…
- Comment on AMD say the Steam Machine is "on track" for an early 2026 release 5 weeks ago:
What made you despise Sony?
I guess the disappearance of a physical Bluray player is gonna make me jump to 100% Linux gaming soon anyway.
- Comment on AMD say the Steam Machine is "on track" for an early 2026 release 5 weeks ago:
As I already have a Playstation 5 for demanding games (and my kids playing Fortnite and Roblox sadly) and a Steam Deck for less demanding games, I really don’t know for sure if I’m gonna get a Steam Machine.
Its price and the way it integrates with my Steam Deck might be a deciding factor.
To be honest, I’m quite happy it isn’t out yet as it’s pushing my FOMO away.
I guess the wise decision would be to buy every game on Playstation physical, sell them and buy them again on Steam Machine 2 instead of getting a Playstation 6. Espace especially because I’m only using the Playstation for racing games (too demanding for the Deck) or exclusives…
- Comment on Mouse Clicks not registering in desktop mode 1 month ago:
I don’t know about clicking, except that with the trackpads I struggle to click correctly, but I think my Steam Deck always restarted in game mode.
I’d have to check again though…
- Comment on The sorry state of saving (mostly a rant) 1 month ago:
While I share your grippes, I would want to add two different ones:
-Auto saves are great, but not when the game doesn’t allow you to restart a level.
For instance, late in Metro 2033, I had almost no more air to go further. I was lucky enough to just have enough to keep going. Had it not been the case, I’d have probably had to start the game from scratch again as you can’t just restart a level or load a previous « safe » save
-Cross platform saves and achievements
My gaming PC is a Steam Deck, so it doesn’t have much power. That’s why I still buy my demanding games on Playstation 5 with the intent of getting them on Linux in the future. I fully understand, why I’d need to rebuy a copy of these games to play them on PC, but I don’t understand why it’s not possible to share a save between different systems. Same for the linked achievements.

Well I did everything through the app manager (Discover), so I don’t know how I could have made mistake…

I guess I just deleted DOSBox stagging/Boxtron after noticing that they were not needed…To be honest, I was a bit lost.

How do you that? Should I reinstall Dosbox stagging just to get rid of these messages?

- Comment on Steam Machine price leak suggests it will cost as much as an iPhone 2 months ago:
800-900 is what they can ask for it I guess. If it’s more it’s gonna get slow sales, which could be okay as Valve doesn’t really need it the way Sony needs a Playstation to sell.
I don’t think I’ll buy it on release as my Steam Deck is good enough for me alongside my Playstation. I might buy it after its first price drop (if it doesn’t increase instead).
- Comment on Most Played Games on Steam Deck for 2025 2 months ago:
Yeah I’m happy to have a Playstation 5 alongside my Steam Deck for demanding games like Cyberpunk.
- Comment on How do you download your GOG games? 3 months ago:
Yeah but I don’t need so much speed as long as it’s faster than the 0.5 MB/s I’m getting for now.
- Comment on How do you download your GOG games? 3 months ago:
That’s what I’ve done for now, but I’d prefer avoiding the days of emule downloads where you needed 2 days to get an illegal copy of a 30 MB mzsic album😅
- Comment on How do you download your GOG games? 3 months ago:
Well I’ve contacted GOG’s support and we’ll see what they say. If it’s still like this in a week or two, I’ll just never order games again on GOG despite wanting to support them and really own my games.
- Comment on How do you download your GOG games? 3 months ago:
Around 0.5 mb/s through heroic and 250 kb/s thrrough Firefox from the GOG website.
But my connection is way faster with everything else…
- Comment on How do you download your GOG games? 3 months ago:
Well downloading on my desktop PC gives me the same slow speeds so it doesn’t help.
Especially because weirdly, turning off the computer meant starting at 0% again.
- Comment on How do you download your GOG games? 3 months ago:
Well I have only rebooted the Deck, but it also happens on my Linux pc’s.
And downloading Playstation games, Steam games, watching Peertube, watching Nba league pass, watching youtube or listening to music on Tidal works fine.
Directly from GOG or through Heroic, I got these really slow download speeds, so ot’s an isolated case.

To be honest, while he would be annoying if I watched 10 of his videos in a row, I don’t understand why hés so hated on Lemmy.
- Comment on RetroDECK Blog - Retro Gaming Flatpak - November 2025: Finally a fatpak 3 months ago:
I’m not an advanced user, bit the fact that retrodeck was a Flatpak I could easily install on my Steam Deck without installing Deckyloader was a big plus.
- Comment on External storage on Steam OS is a problem 3 months ago:
You saved me by talking about the drive not auto mounting after updates.
It turns out my problem this time was different than the last time as it was just the disk not auto mounting.
In the end, restarting my Steam Deck was enough. What an easy to solve and stupid problem!
- Comment on External storage on Steam OS is a problem 3 months ago:
Yeah you’re right about it being portable first.
I sold our Switch to justify getting it on top of my Playstation and my PC’s, so I’m not really using it thé right way as it spends a good amount of time hooked to a big screen.
Yeah let’s hope the Steam Machine is gonna bring more stability when it comes to external hard drives.
- Comment on External storage on Steam OS is a problem 3 months ago:
I know and that’s what’s frustrating.
I’d just want to be able to redirect the Deck towards it or copy it on another hard drive to see if the problem is hardware related.
