- Comment on Dell admits consumers don’t care about AI PCs 2 days ago:
Surprisingly a lot of people around me watch hockey.
And I also hear about a lot of people watching it.
But even though I’m very much into IT, I know very few people who selfhost. Despite that being a small community, local genAI seems even smaller that that.
- Comment on Dell admits consumers don’t care about AI PCs 3 days ago:
Do 5% of people you know use local LLMs?
If so, you don’t know a lot of people, or you are heavy into the lLLM scene.

Statistically relevant portion?
You know they were hyperbolic.
- Comment on Unifideck: A Decky Loader plugin that brings together games from Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG into a single, unified library experience on your Steam Deck. 4 days ago:
Fuck Epic Games Store.
Buying up users with free games is a trash strategy, and I will not use it on Steam Deck, when their CEO actively stops games running on Linux.

They did not say what the biggest companies use the AI for.
Article said companies in the server supply chain are happy, and that executives are happy, and some companies not using LLMs have actual use cases, but that’s it.
- Comment on Coinbase CEO explains why he fired engineers who didn’t try AI immediately 4 months ago:
If you’re a senior coder who can’t search the documentation fast enough, I don’t consider you to be a senior.
There are other things that are very important, but this is one of the most basic cornerstones.

- Comment on Indie devs have begun adding a no generative AI stamp to their store pages 10 months ago:
LLMs are going to make senior devs indespensable. So far from what I’ve seen, it’s not great at solving unusual cases, and it most shines in boilerplate and generic problems.
So juniors are never going to learn to code, and then companies will have to pay for experienced people.
Juniors never think hard about unionizing, and the seniors will have job security and therefore not strong motivation.
I hope devs will unionize in any case, LLMs or not, like any other specialization.

- Comment on OpenAI to remove non-profit control and give Sam Altman equity 1 year ago:
Get plausible deniability, rack in VC cash, lock in the capital, leave everyone holding the bags.
We just had this with Theranos, though that was based on a complete lie, so I’ll wait and see how this goes.
Because LLMs will not form a ‘superintelligence’ or whatever they want to call it.
- Comment on Valve has a new Steam Chart for the most played Steam Deck games 1 year ago:
I played through 99% if the game on Deck.
Only the last bosses I had the time and space to run it on PC and control it from the Deck.
But 0 issues with anything, ran like butter, at home, travelling. Controls are excelent.
It was my first souls game and I finished it thanks to the Deck.

I’ve heard about screen capture cheats in Dota 2. Immediate reactions or such.
- Comment on Steam Deck hits over 14,000 games rated Playable or Verified 1 year ago:
Nice write up, but it doesn’t touch my question.
There are cheats that only read the screen, they don’t even need to run on the same PC.
So why kill your customers with anticheat acting like a spyware for something they will never solve.
- Comment on Steam Deck hits over 14,000 games rated Playable or Verified 1 year ago:
I’m not even sure that is true.
There are always ways around anticheat. Why do companies demand Ring 0 access anyway?
- Comment on New to Steam Deck and PC gaming, I'm looking for game recommendations... 1 year ago:
Just FYI - Yakuza 4 and 5 are not verified on the Deck, which if you want to finish the series, is kind of a bummer.
I played 0-4 on PC, but then I got a deck, so I moved to Like a Dragon instead of Yakuza 5 :/
