- Comment on Wayback: A Wayland replacement for the whole X11 server 5 days ago:
Cause it’s just translating to x and back to Wayland and has to be preset up on both ends it needs to be Universal like how ex was so having it built into the actual Wayland protocol is the only solution.
- Comment on Wayback: A Wayland replacement for the whole X11 server 6 days ago:
What I want to know is when will we have network transparency again in Wayland or at least an interface for it and no waypipe is not the answer.

- Comment on Here's an exercise in extreme masochism: The Linux Ship of Theseus 3 months ago:
Yeah but you gave me a better idea going to Hurd instead
- Comment on Here's an exercise in extreme masochism: The Linux Ship of Theseus 3 months ago:
I have done this it’s not that hard if you use two disks so you can run on one then bootstrap the other then share the the home directory over. I guess you could also use BTRFS and run on two subvolumes and do it on one drive.
I would also add an extra hard mode going from a Linux distro to a bsd distro
- Comment on How to setup auto clicking with mouse 3 months ago:
Ah I just thought you needed it for an idle game you want more of a turbo button. If it’s a Logitech mouse does solaar or piper not work for you. I have macros setup in my G502.
- Comment on How to setup auto clicking with mouse 3 months ago:
Correct but since he is using a mouse I figured he was using as a desktop
- Comment on How to setup auto clicking with mouse 3 months ago:
You don’t need a maco and a mouse to auto click the following will let you click 200 times where ever your mouse is at time the command is run and you can set the delay and number of clicks to anything you want
xdotool click --delay 5000 --repeat 200 1

- Comment on Microsoft looking to restrict kernel level access after CrowdStrike incident might help us with our current Anti-Cheat dilemma 11 months ago:
ah cool yeah it was this thing in the US where you connected into rooms that had dedicated servers attached to them but under the hood it was all peer to peer I think that would be a server browser for games that didn’t have that like quake, quake 2 and mechwarrior 2, decent. It was run by sega.
What made it crazy awesome is you generated points by logging in and playing to spend in the heat store and they sold like GPUs like voodoo 2 2000s and gaming mice, etc.
It all crashed in a blaze once people figured out you could just camp in games an minimize and keep generating points.
By that point Half-life and Quake 3 was out and had the server browser built in so it was on the way out anyway.
- Comment on Microsoft looking to restrict kernel level access after CrowdStrike incident might help us with our current Anti-Cheat dilemma 11 months ago:
yeah remember heat.net?

what kills me is Solved Cheating in the 90s and early 00s. It’s called dedicated servers. People would buy a game someone would setup a server and if you were a dick or cheat you would get kicked and reach sever wasn’t like a community just like it is here.
But the companies want control they want to be able to shut download the game on their timetable and get you to buy the next game. A tool or system is never going to fix this people and breaking communities into manageable chunks can.
Hell back in the day servers were hacked in purpose to create new types of games. anyone remember CS Surfing and Sniper only maps in TFC.
the point is people can hack away beak the game beyond recognition but they can do that off in the real own space.
Now I know that breaks global leader boards and other ego driven things but I’m just talking about having fun with games.
