When lots game developers start releasing ARM or RISC-V versions
That is more than a little funny, given Valve’s release of Proton, and their stance on Native Linux builds (they recommended against it - just use proton)
- Comment on Will anything dethrone the Steam Deck? Probably not -GamingonLinux 4 days ago:
Considering the trend seems to be a move towards ARM (see Mac M1, Windows on ARM + Window’s ARM translation layer) - I wouldnt be surprised if they do exactly that, eventually.
There’s already some work that might lead to it. As ARM gains prevalence, I think it’ll happen sooner rather than later - once all of those dependencies do all the hard work. The efficiency of ARM for mobile devices like the Steam Deck really just scream for it

Nothing stopping them from using an ARM processor for the Deck 2
- Comment on Steam deck for a TV party game emulation machine? 5 days ago:
If the game is available on the Wii U (cough Breath cough) you’ll be better off using that version, but Switch has come a long way.
I don’t think PS3 is very viable though, given it’s power and strange architecture.
- Comment on Game Recording Beta - Now available for Steam Deck and desktop 1 week ago:
Should hopefully be easier than dealing with transferring it off the Switch…

Not surprising - dude is toxic af. Of course he’s a pedophile.
- Comment on New stable Steam update for Steam Deck - adds battery indicators for Bluetooth controls, ability to toggle Bluetooth wake on-off for individual devices, and more 2 weeks ago:
Hm… I don’t see this as an option for Xbox Controllers (but do see the battery indicator).
Curious

Hm… is the Helldivers 2 experience positive?
Might be pretty good for running with some randos…
- Comment on Valve Working on Video Clip Recording and Sharing in Steam Client 5 weeks ago:
Just FYI in case you didn’t know, AMD does have this built in to the driver now just like Nvidia
- Comment on It Takes Two does not require EA app anymore and its Steam Deck Verified now 5 weeks ago:
Agreed, we thoroughly enjoyed it - hopefully, they make another game soon!
- Comment on Steam Beta adds Bluetooth device battery info for Steam Deck, specific device toggles for Bluetooth wake from sleep 5 weeks ago:
I think the device needs to support battery reporting right?
Hopefully great for Xbox Controllers. Anyone happen to have a screenshot of how it looks?
- Comment on SteamOS 3.6.0 Preview: Remote-Controlled 1 month ago:
Added support for some HDMI CEC features: * TV remote input * TV wake up * TV input switching
I’d be very curious if those features end up in cheaper 3rd party docks…

- Comment on [News] GuliKit will be releasing their Hall Effect Joystick upgrade for the OLED deck this month 1 month ago:
Any you can recommend? The only one I can find seems poorly reviewed or not entirely clear if it works with the Xbox One (and not Elite) controller
- Comment on [News] GuliKit will be releasing their Hall Effect Joystick upgrade for the OLED deck this month 1 month ago:
Kind of wish they’d release a kit for Xbox controllers… (or, rather, Microsoft/Nintendo/Sony would start using them stock)
I’m also curious what happened to the 7 in 1 Gulikit dock…
- Comment on With a Nintendo Switch 2 on the way, I hope Valve make a Steam Deck 2 1 month ago:
I wouldn’t be surprised if they wait till next year to make any announcement - they just recently launched the OLED, and I’m sure they’re happy to wait for new AMD chips.
- Comment on New AMD CPU leak looks like a perfect fit for Steam Deck 2 2 months ago:
It’s too soon for Valve, but I’m sure AMD would love to sell chips to everyone, including those not Valve.
- Comment on Gearbox Publishing Rebrands as Arc Games After Embracer's Deal With Take-Two 2 months ago:
Yep yep.
Interestingly, despite founding the publishing arm in 2015, it’s also apparently never published a Borderlands game…
- Comment on Gearbox Publishing Rebrands as Arc Games After Embracer's Deal With Take-Two 2 months ago:
Gearbox Publishing ≠ Gearbox Software
With them now separating, legally I don’t think they would want to advertise a game they no longer publish.
- Comment on Introducing Steam Families 3 months ago:
Hopefully, they’re not as aggressive as Netflix - can’t even share a login with the in-laws across the street…
- Comment on Introducing Steam Families 3 months ago:
Really awesome news!
The previous system was rather arcane - this bodes much better for the father in law that doesn’t know how texting works but does know how RTSes work…
- Comment on SN30 Pro+ connection issues 3 months ago:
I wonder if the dock is perhaps emitting interference?
Aside from maybe reorientating the dock, maybe try updating the SN30 firmware?
- Comment on [Discussion] New month, new games. What are you playing on your Deck? - March 2024 4 months ago:
It Takes Two with the fiancé - thinking about what other coop games to play
- Comment on I love my Deck, but the multi user setup is terrible 4 months ago:
We set up family sharing between us to access each other’s games, but did that I think entirely on a computer via that steam client. No pins or anything were necessary iirc, just a slightly convoluted sequence of logging in and out of steam on the same computer and clicking the needed ‘family sharing’ buttons.
Just a note that family sharing is per device, so you’d both have to login to the Steam Deck and enable family sharing. You can’t just login to some external computer and have sharing work on the deck
