- Comment on Valve's huge Steam Deck update is now ready for everyone, including rival AMD handhelds 5 days ago:
Interesting, weird that there seems to be a fair bit of friction there. I like the idea of it on the switch 2, joystick in left hand and mouse in the right seems to me a great ergonomic solution for comfortable movement plus aiming control.

How does the mouse function work on that device? Feels good? To me it seems like a really good functionality for shooters.
- Comment on [Game] Doom the Dark Ages will not run well on steam deck at release 2 weeks ago:
It’s bullshit. iD’s engine is well optimised but this is a requirement that screws people who don’t otherwise need to upgrade their GPU.
- Comment on Nintendo has sent a DMCA notice to Ryujinx forks 2 months ago:
Your second paragraph is a very interesting point that I for some reason haven’t considered. Explains why they’re going after emulators left and right.
- Comment on Happy three years to the Steam Deck - the Linux gaming machine that changed everything 2 months ago:
Perfect for those sorts of games. Previously the switch was my machine for those sorts of games, but waiting for a switch port ruled out or delayed a lot of games. So glad we have handheld PCs now.
- Comment on Happy three years to the Steam Deck - the Linux gaming machine that changed everything 2 months ago:
It’s a great machine especially for playing chill indie games that you might not run on a desktop as well.
- Comment on Steam Deck is getting official Nvidia GeForce Now support, with HDR 4 months ago:
Great, it doesn’t make sense not to have cloud gaming integrated easily. Especially if you already have the games in your library.

Does factorio play well on the deck? I thought kB+m was critical

- Comment on Valve will finally sell the Steam Deck in Australia 7 months ago:
Valve were really smart with the hardware selection. Pointless to put FHD resolution into a 7 inch screen size, means better performance and battery.
- Comment on Valve will finally sell the Steam Deck in Australia 7 months ago:
Yeah that’s fair. I caved for the LCD and again the oled. Have probably overpaid $650 all up over the last 18 months but its a great device.
- Comment on Valve will finally sell the Steam Deck in Australia 7 months ago:
They’re not hard to get, but you would pay $1200 AUD instead of $899 which is the retail for the 512GB OLED, for example.
- Comment on Junk Store (for installing Epic and GoG games on the Deck) is hopefully coming to Steam store 7 months ago:
I’m a big fan of this project. Had a chat to the dev on discord and he’s pouring a lot of energy into the solo development. It would be great if he was able get some outside help.
- Comment on [Discussion] What games are you playing on your deck? - October 2024 7 months ago:
Jusant is next on the list after Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

Hell yeah. Been hanging out for getting this one.
- Comment on Steam will appear at PAX Australia 2024 for the first time ever, pointing to a possible 'official' Steam Deck launch down under 8 months ago:
That would be great. Also have two already. Hopefully prices go down. Its much cheaper to get a PS5 than an oled steam deck here.
- Comment on Adding gog games to steam deck 8 months ago:
Fair enough. I haven’t paid either but I don’t have a huge GOG library. For epic games I consider it better than HGL. Less logout issues like I have with HGL, and it’s easier to navigate to.
- Comment on Adding gog games to steam deck 8 months ago:
The Epic games are part of their public (free) release, but GOG is still in beta/alpha and I think you make a one off patron donation or be a part of one of their patreon tiers to access it. Its a solo dev effort with a tonne of time put into it.
- Comment on Adding gog games to steam deck 8 months ago:
Junkstore from the Decky-Launcher can give a close to native experience. Its kind of a paid app though. Otherwise heroic games launcher works well.
- Comment on Bloodborne in-game on Steam Deck with ShadPS4 8 months ago:
I am very excited to see it booting. I wonder how far away we have from it actually running.
- Comment on Chiaki4deck appreciation post 9 months ago:
Not a stupid question. This is completely separate to the monthly PS plus subscription. Basically this makes your steamdeck a PSPortal.
- Comment on Chiaki4deck appreciation post 9 months ago:
I’m glad someone hadn’t heard of it before!
- Comment on Chiaki4deck appreciation post 9 months ago:
It really solves the convenience and lack of portability issue. I find it works better than steam link due to being able to put the ps5 into rest mode and wake it up with the deck.

Thank you. Reading through responses this seems to answer it, I could imagine once you’re modifyinf foundational OS binaries you don’t want to have a SteamOS update nuke it.

Hey! You did prompt my question, no offense :p I’m a fellow Open SUSE tumbleweed user on Desktop, but was surprised to see it mentioned in this context. Thanks for sharing!
