- Comment on Steam Machine – Powerful Enough? 1 week ago:
Yeah I checked myself and Bazzite has an Nvidia version now. Installed it last night and it is working great. No Steam Machine needed it seems. The Frame does appeal to me still.
- Comment on Steam Machine – Powerful Enough? 1 week ago:
Using 1440p, I’ve not had any major issues with 8GB. It has been a bottleneck that has forced me to turn some resolution/texture settings down though. Indiana Jones is an example that stands out for running poorly, but I’m not buying a new system for that game to run better.
- Comment on Steam Machine – Powerful Enough? 1 week ago:
I’d argue it’s also for people who want sleep and resume on a PC for that console experience. I have a 3070ti system, which is older and mid now but still smokes the steam machine, and I’ll be “downgrading” to this because I consider quick resume an upgraded experience. Most games I play don’t even need that power.
- Comment on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is targeting Steam Deck and other handhelds because players want more "freedom" nowadays 1 month ago:
Sorry, I should have specified Rebirth doesn’t run well. Remake could well be fine on there
- Comment on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is targeting Steam Deck and other handhelds because players want more "freedom" nowadays 1 month ago:
With lossless scaling, I think you could probably get it up to 45 frames per second with decent visuals.

They don’t run too well on the Steam Deck TBH.

Don’t pirate this one, if that’s what you’re getting at
- Comment on Planning on buying a SteamDeck. What should I know before purchasing? 3 months ago:
The fan is more quiet. Wifi 6E, slightly larger screen, improved shoulder buttons. There’s a lot of improvements, definitely a worthy revision.

Wow okay I will try that!
- Comment on [Help] Swapped nvme from old deck into new deck, now headphones don't work 3 months ago:
Thanks mate, same. I struggled to find people talking about it online. To be honest it’s not a terrible problem for me. Use Bluetooth most of the time.
- Comment on [Help] Swapped nvme from old deck into new deck, now headphones don't work 3 months ago:
I can’t help but I just wanted to say that I’m also having headphone issues after putting my old 2280 NVME into my OLED from LCD deck.
When I plug in headphones it’s fine. But if I unplug then plugh back in again? Crackling in the background constantly. Reboot fixes it. No idea why.

Thanks for your response! Makes sense, I had not heard of Low Framerate Compensation.
- Comment on Fastest Handheld Display? - Switch 2 vs Steam Deck vs ROG Ally X and More 5 months ago:
I wasn’t aware that high refresh rates were beneficial for VRR? I’m not an expert, my assumption was that if games are needing VRR, they are likely running mostly around the 30-45 FPS, like cyberpunk. At which point a 60 Hz VRR display would be equivalent to a 120Hz one in so far as the VRR functionality is concerned.
- Comment on Fastest Handheld Display? - Switch 2 vs Steam Deck vs ROG Ally X and More 5 months ago:
I think it keeps cost down which is important for any console release, and the 120Hz VRR display is a good marketing sound bite. Cheaper LCD display means the OLED will come out as an easy mid-gen upgrade.
- Comment on Fastest Handheld Display? - Switch 2 vs Steam Deck vs ROG Ally X and More 5 months ago:
I found it interesting that all LCD handheld PC displays tested except the ROG ALLY X had poor response times on the display, including the LCD steam deck.
None were as bad as the Switch 2 though. The 120Hz refresh rate doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense if frames can’t even transition at a rate that keeps up with it.

Epic games browser extension to see your library is 🤌 Must be difficult to implement!
- Comment on Valve's huge Steam Deck update is now ready for everyone, including rival AMD handhelds 6 months ago:
Interesting, weird that there seems to be a fair bit of friction there. I like the idea of it on the switch 2, joystick in left hand and mouse in the right seems to me a great ergonomic solution for comfortable movement plus aiming control.

How does the mouse function work on that device? Feels good? To me it seems like a really good functionality for shooters.
- Comment on [Game] Doom the Dark Ages will not run well on steam deck at release 6 months ago:
It’s bullshit. iD’s engine is well optimised but this is a requirement that screws people who don’t otherwise need to upgrade their GPU.

Your second paragraph is a very interesting point that I for some reason haven’t considered. Explains why they’re going after emulators left and right.
- Comment on Happy three years to the Steam Deck - the Linux gaming machine that changed everything 9 months ago:
Perfect for those sorts of games. Previously the switch was my machine for those sorts of games, but waiting for a switch port ruled out or delayed a lot of games. So glad we have handheld PCs now.

It’s a great machine especially for playing chill indie games that you might not run on a desktop as well.

Great, it doesn’t make sense not to have cloud gaming integrated easily. Especially if you already have the games in your library.

Valve were really smart with the hardware selection. Pointless to put FHD resolution into a 7 inch screen size, means better performance and battery.
