- Comment on The upcoming skate. from EA will be unsupported on Linux / SteamOS and Steam Deck due to anti-cheat 3 days ago:
Also, the same anti-cheat can work with one game, and not the other, because it’s up to the publisher/developer to enable Linux support for anti-cheat that can work with Linux. For example, one of the most well known solutions, EAC, has a bunch of games that don’t work, and actually a bunch that do as well.
- Comment on Reddit’s UK users must now prove they’re 18 to view many types of content 4 days ago:
If a website requires me to verify my age, I’ll stop using that website. If an app requires it, I’ll either stop using that app, or use a VPN, but there’s no way in hell I’m doing the verification process.
- Comment on Steel Hunters, the mech shooter from World of Tanks' devs, gets a shutdown date just three months after releasing in early access 1 week ago:
Funny that this is the first time I’ve heard about this game.
- Comment on Blue Archive from NEXON arrives on Steam and works on Linux, SteamOS / Steam Deck 2 weeks ago:
Meh, gacha.
- Comment on The Kickstarter for Dragon Age writer David Gaider's demonic deckbuilder Malys didn't work, so here it is in early access instead 2 weeks ago:
Yep, I start watching a trailer, see some pictures, or a description of a game, that looks interesting… and then it’s a deck builder, yaaay…
- Comment on Wizards of the Coast will make "CRPGs that are going to be as serious as BG3", and their D&D action game wants to be the stuff of gelatinous cube dreams 5 weeks ago:
I don’t think WoTC have the ability to make a game as 10th as good as BG3
- Comment on Mewgenics, the cat breeding roguelike from The Binding Of Isaac creator, has been delayed to avoid fighting other big moggies 5 weeks ago:
According to Wikipedia:
A moggy is any cat which has not been intentionally bred. Moggies lack a consistent appearance unlike purebred cats that are selectively bred for appearance conforming to a standard.
I guess it makes sense with the cat breeding theme.
- Comment on Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 has been announced - can someone please explain the plot of these games to me? 5 weeks ago:
I thought it looked interesting, but then it turned into a mil guy and then BOOM, Black Ops fucking 7. You know a franchise has too many games when a god damn sub-series has 6 sequels.
- Comment on Duolingo CEO on going AI-first: ‘I did not expect the blowback’ 5 weeks ago:
Then you’re a fucking idiot, anyone could see it coming.
- Comment on Reschedule those sailing lessons, as Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord's War Sails DLC has been delayed 1 month ago:
Probably for the best.
- Comment on Grand Theft Auto 6 gets a second trailer but there's still no date for a PC version 2 months ago:
That’s because they’re going to hold off on it as long as possible, to avoid thr risk of piracy and to encourage double dipping.
- Comment on Minecraft’s VR support is now gone 2 months ago:
Never going to happen, especially since most MC players aren’t on PC, and of those that are, more play Bedrock than Java, and only one of those two has an in-game marketplace.
- Comment on Minecraft’s VR support is now gone 2 months ago:
I mean, Fabric has been a thing for many years, and from playing both Fabric and Forge, I don’t really think its presence does any harm, at least not at this point. The biggest disruption in more recent times is NeoForge, a lot of mod packs seem to be transisitioning to it with 1.21.
- Comment on "You get twice the amount of Oblivion this year" says Skyblivion modder undeterred by official remaster 2 months ago:
Well they apparently had, or still have, communication with Bethesda. So both they and Microsoft have obviously been fine with it so far, that doesn’t mean they can’t change their minds of course, but considering how many of a game’s lifetime sales are done as preorders or day one, I don’t think they’re too worried about Skyblivion affecting the profit from the remaster, since most people don’t have a PC, aren’t aware of it, don’t care for it, or aren’t patient enough to wait for it to release.
- Comment on Steam hits a another all-time user record with over 40 million online 4 months ago:
That would never happen.
- Comment on Bad news for portable Monster Hunter Wilds hopefuls: the Steam Deck can't manage 30 fps, even in maximum potato mode 4 months ago:
I can barely manage 40 fps without frame gen so no surprise there.

Yeah, my keyboard doesn’t have a numpad, which definitely makes it a little less convenient to play.

I’m sure the three people who have 8K displays will appreciate that.

It is absolutely used as a forum. It even has forum features built in.
- Comment on Assassin's Creed Shadows to Feature Denuvo & Mandatory Ubisoft Account Linking 7 months ago:
Absolutely shocking.
- Comment on No plans for a Space Marine 2 PvPvE mode - "it sounds great on paper", but "it's very annoying" in practice 8 months ago:
Yeah, I really dislike PvPvE. I like to play SoT, it’s one of my favourite games to chill and play with friends while drinking… but only for the PvE content. I think most of the time, people are interested largely in one mode or the other. PvPers don’t like it when PvEers don’t engage them, and PvEers don’t like their chill time being interrupted by PvPers.
- Comment on Sid Meier's Civilization VII gets Windows system requirements with Linux and macOS details later 9 months ago:
The expected values. It doesn’t necessarily mean the game is limited to 60 fps, but 60 is a common target to aim for. Knowing what specs you need to achieve it, given your resolution, is quite nice.
- Comment on Epic knows its game store social features ‘suck,’ but it wants to fix that 9 months ago:
Really? I would think the biggest problem Lemmy users have with Epic is their business practices, not a lack of social features.
- Comment on Epic knows its game store social features ‘suck,’ but it wants to fix that 9 months ago:
I don’t know anyone who uses steam chat or parties instead of something like Discord, so I’m not sure it really matters.
