- Comment on Lenovo Legion Go S with SteamOS at CES 2025 video by Verge 1 week ago:
I’m thinking it’s for the Windows bloat… Gotta have more storage for it.
- Comment on What are your favorite accessories for the steam deck? 2 weeks ago:
Oh damn, I’ve been exclusively on zip up hoodies for the past 2+ decades, but that might convince me to pick up a pullover
- Comment on GE-Proton 9-22 released with lots of game fixes for Linux / Steam Deck 2 weeks ago:
I don’t use decky loader so dunno what Wine caller is, but assuming it runts protonupqt through wine, that’s def unnecessary (I guess it could work?). The app is linux native, so you don’t need a translation layer like wine.
- Comment on GE-Proton 9-22 released with lots of game fixes for Linux / Steam Deck 2 weeks ago:
You can also add it as a “non-steam game” and run it without having to switch to desktop mode.
- Comment on Input lag with built-in controls? 3 weeks ago:
I dunno. I’ve never had any issues with input lag so
- Comment on Input lag with built-in controls? 3 weeks ago:
Maybe steam input is on when it isn’t needed for the game?

Wow, great arguments 🙄

I went to hit “edit” and accidentally deleted my comment. Lol derp.
What I said was:
The verification system is not remotely accurate. It probably does more harm than good. Valve should have made it crowdsourced like protondb because they’re obviously unable to keep up, and I don’t know why they thought they would be.
You are criticizing the verification system by comparing it to ProtonDB which, again, is a different thing.
Steam’s verification isn’t “inaccurate,” it just denotes which games will give you the “console experience” right out of the box. And for that purpose, it does just fine.
- Comment on The State of Steam Deck survey 2024: The results are in 3 weeks ago:
Well based on your comment, it seemed as thought you didn’t.
- Comment on The State of Steam Deck survey 2024: The results are in 3 weeks ago:
Valve is going for a console experience, and that means the games just work.
Obviously, with PC gaming, that is a nearly insurmountable challenge.
I think the check mark is their attempt at that, and that’s why it doesn’t match 1:1 with ProtonDB.
Even the most minimal amount of “tinkering,” like having to change the resolution the first time you open the game, or the game doesn’t have an option for the Deck’s resolution, will stop it from getting approved as “fully compatible”
- Comment on [Discussion] Do you use any headphones with your Steam Deck? 3 weeks ago:
You can what?

Protondb is the place to check.

Animal Well is one of the best games of the year. So good.
The less you know about anything going into it, the better.
- Comment on Proton Experimental for Steam Deck / Linux fixes Disgaea 4 Complete+, Final Fantasy XIV and various other games 1 month ago:
I’ve found that Proton-GE works every time regular proton doesn’t. Haven’t tried it with D4 specifically though.

Steam Input is amazing, and something that I feel doesn’t get nearly as much credit as it deserves. You can literally make anything do anything. You can even create on-screen rotary menus and shit.
I saw a comment on Lemmy a while back where someone said they hated steam input and I just didn’t understand what possible issue anyone could ever have with it.

Finally. Thank god.

Yikes dude.
Learning when to say “you know what, I was wrong,” or even just, "my bad, I misspoke what what I originally said. What I actually meant was: " is a very important life skill as an adult. I hope you realize that one day.
- Comment on The Plucky Squire recently came out, and used the Steam Deck to represent PC 3 months ago:
You can also easily connect a mouse and keyboard (and monitor or TV if you want) if the controller doesn’t work well for the game.
Because it’s literally a PC.
- Comment on The Plucky Squire recently came out, and used the Steam Deck to represent PC 3 months ago:
Steam Deck is not just a PC, and its not just a handheld.
Yes. It’s both… And it is fully functioning as either.
- Comment on The Plucky Squire recently came out, and used the Steam Deck to represent PC 3 months ago:
Are you not aware of “Desktop mode”? Hold down the power button for a few second, click “switch to desktop mode,” and you’re literally using a fully functioning Linux PC.

But misrepresenting its utility as a modern living room PC doesn’t help anyone and is just going to leave people disappointed.
Did I do this?

It’s almost as if they’re two completely different markets
- Comment on There's a reason we aren't as harsh on the Steam Deck. Actually, a couple. 3 months ago:
Yup. As someone who hasn’t had a dedicated gaming PC in about a decade, I’ve been really happy with the PS5 + Steam Deck combo (well, plus Switch, but that thing collects dust until Nintendo releases a Mario platformer).
I recently got a laptop that’s not made for gaming specifically, but can handle them pretty well (with Proton), and that has scratched any itch I’ve had for PC games that don’t lend themselves to Deck or console (your RTS games and such).
At risk of giving away the game… I think people would be very surprised to see how cheap physical copies of PS4 and PS5 games go for when you catch them on sale.
- Comment on The one accesory I would recommend with the Deck 4 months ago:
What they said, but yes also the wriggling. It’s probably fine now, but I have had devices where the port did get worn out that way after years of use and just incidental wiggling and that was enough to make the port extremely loose and jiggly.
- Comment on Black Myth: Wukong shows very clearly Valve are selling a lot of Steam Decks 4 months ago:
I think Wukong is $60 ($70 for Deluxe). At least the was the PS5 price.

- Comment on Windows is Now Officially Supported on OLED Steam Deck 5 months ago:
Yeah, I dunno if that list was supposed to be convincing lol… Most of the games on there are total “games as a service” garbage.
- Comment on Windows is Now Officially Supported on OLED Steam Deck 5 months ago:
Every single one of these games looks like trash. Like 4 out of 5 (on page 1 at least) of the games on the list are games I’ve only heard about from YouTube advertisements that I didn’t use SponsorBlock on.
Not very convincing.
