- Comment on Substack says it could be profitable — but it still isn’t 4 days ago:
Just like that boy in 8th grade could totally bang 100 chicks and jump over 5 cars with his bike. He just doesn’t want to.
- Comment on Is an AI winter coming? Diminishing returns and scaling limit fears freeze AGI hopes 1 week ago:
No, line must go up!
- Comment on D-Link refuses to patch a security flaw on over 60,000 NAS devices — the company instead recommends replacing legacy NAS with newer models 1 week ago:
They don’t want to pay employees.
- Comment on AI coding assistants do not boost productivity or prevent burnout, study finds 1 month ago:
Also my experience. It sometimes tries to be smart and gets everything wrong.
I think code shows clearly, that LLMs don’t actually understand what’s written. Often enough you can clearly see it trying to insert a common pattern even though that doesn’t make sense at this point.
- Comment on Transparent solar cell technology could allow smartphones and cars to self-charge 2 months ago:
There was a very simple phone from Samsung a few years back that had a solar cell on the back.
Since the battery lasted over a week anyway, you could easily double the battery life by just having it in indirect light.
Modern phones are guzzling so much power that it’s hardly useful there.
- Comment on Baldur's Gate 3 publishing director says "almost all games should cost more at a base level" because they cost so much to make 2 months ago:
That’s one of the reasons I lost almost all interest in games.
It already costs an arm and a leg to stay somewhat on top of the hardware requirements, I can’t justify to myself also investing hundreds of hours into essentially busy work.
I don’t enjoy fetching Fred’s uncle’s magic shovel of doom from a stupid generic dungeon 4h away.
Maybe I’m weird, but I use games more like interactive movies. I want a story, not some artificial and ultimately pointless “challenge”.
