- Comment on New Steam update shows four Steam Machine models, though we still don't have a release date 2 days ago:
Assuming the price for this thing isn’t insane, I would still buy it and just never use the microSD port. That’s fine.
What I am a bit annoyed at is the lack of any good USB-C ports. USB 4 or thunderbolt are incredibly useful for fast drives and display support, and not having that sucks. I’d be buying this as an HTPC for gaming, so again, it’s not a deal breaker, just annoying.
In 2026 I don’t think users need 4 USB-A ports and one token USB-C port?
- Comment on New Steam update shows four Steam Machine models, though we still don't have a release date 2 days ago:
Definitely not. It’s USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, which is 10gb/s.

They have disclosed 2 storage sizes in their tech specs (512gb NVMe SSD vs 2tb), you’re probably right on the controller.
My only disappointment is the one USB-C port and 4 USB A ports. If it were me I’d trade a microsd slot and usb a3 for a usbc.

Didn’t know that’s eBay, but u stand by what I said.
They’re definitely counting abandoned and inactive carts in that stat.

Everything you see on there prudent page is a lie.
Look up e-commerce social proof apps.
They just show fake results, it should legally be fraud.

- Comment on How many pampered hikers can you freeze in alpine tycoon game Above the Snow? 2 weeks ago:
Has anyone tried this?
I only really like tycoon games that trigger the hyperfocus optimization part of my brain or enable crimes against humanity.

I get it, if I wanted my cat to sit in my shoulder I’d need glue.

There used to be a circuit designing program I actually looked at lot like this in the early 2000s
I would love to try it again if anyone has the name.

In fact, most of the time I run into this it’s big corps who should know better, but don’t.
They won’t delist LinkedIn and Microsoft and Reddit. They just paid billions for Reddit content feeds.

If you go in with no cookies you still get that. Bitch you don’t s know what I’ve read! Maybe I’ve never read wired even offline. Then your statement is false.
- Comment on Steam store "refresh" is out in beta now, enwidening images and adding infinite scrollage to the homepage 1 month ago:
If this improves the big picture mode (pretty much the only way I like to use steam) I’ll be happy
Currently the cursor gets stuck, can’t reach some options, and hitting back loses all your history or brings you to different places on the page, or someone altogether a different page.
Other times the similar games list escapes its scroll box and goes over content and out of frame.
It’s clearly not well tested despite Steam Deck not being new snd BP not being remotely new.

Imagine you’re just living your life, some aliens fly over, abduct you, probe you and take samples.
“Ah, yes, this lifeform is the one we created to saved the sad-Pluk’tak’un memes in”
Then they release you. Your whole species exists to propagate a folder of memes and alien porn.

Even if they don’t, they can easily add some.
Ohhh nooo it looks like we have a bigger overflow in <extremely convoluted kernel module with highly specific trigger>!

I’d say this is good because it forces them to close this loophole, but they’ll have a new one.

The dispute is they have ethics, which is low coming from an AI company.

Fuck
I’m glad I bought a new computer this year, but this fucking sucks.
And what this is going to do for non phone non SAAS software is going to be brutal.
It’s going to be thin clients and cloud only for a lot of people and small businesses now.
- Comment on Valve confirm the Steam Machine will be priced like a PC with similar specs, rather than a console 5 months ago:
Gave this a shot… something is horribly wrong with my system, for whatever reason steam could read my controller but never responded to any buttons in big picture mode.
Also, apparently my controller works as a mouse though, which is pretty neat.
I’m on atomic fedora, so I’ll try out bazzite (had no idea it was that easy to switch distros on atomic)
