- Comment on Dyson is crap (mostly) 2 weeks ago:
Let me tell you the best thing about Dyson vacuums. They’re super popular. Which means there’s an entire industry of compatible spare parts that keep them going forever (or at least until the last bit of plastic crumbles). My Dyson V7 of Theseus still runs like new.
There are fucking adapters for power tools batteries. This is an absolute game changer. Because the stock battery is shit. It’s weak, barely holds enough charge to vacuum my flat’s floors on regular mode or my bed on turbo mode, is way too expensive to replace, and that’s when new. Now I put a fucking massive 5A/h Makita battery and it holds enough charge to vacuum every single surface in my flat several times over on turbo mode. I can have a spare one ready to go if it decides to die. And when it doesn’t hold charge anymore, I’ll just have to bike to the nearest hardware store and finish my cleanup before the morning is over.
My parents have gone through several vacuums from other brands since I bought my V7. Not only are they worse at their only job, as soon as something breaks, they had to buy a new one because there are no spare parts. They always refused to buy a Dyson because they’re too expensive. They’ve probably spent 3x as much as me on vacuums over the last decade and a half.
- Comment on Steam Deck LCD Battery Spares Return to iFixit With Steep Price Hike 2 weeks ago:
FWIW that was already how much we had to pay in Europe before.

That sucks. I’m kinda glad I didn’t wait for another month to replace my dying battery, but I’m sad for other people in the same boat.

That and Formula 1 sponsors are the most sus companies in the world.

Yes it’s already there, you just have to activate the performance overlay in the “•••” menu.
You can easily alter one of the presets to only show battery percentage by editing
/home/deck/.config/MangoHud/preset.confusing this documentation. My goto preset only shows FPS, watts and battery percentage.
- Comment on what exactly is the steam frame? 7 months ago:
I know. I swore my next headset would be Linux-compatible so I can reclaim the space of the windows partition I made exclusively for VR, but unfortunately, until the Frame, only old-ass headsets barely improving from my CV1 were available.
- Comment on what exactly is the steam frame? 7 months ago:
Yes. The Steam Frame will come with the following technologies:
- SteamOS, just like the Steam Deck, so you can play Windows and Linux games on-device with Linux (both pancake on a virtual screen and lower requirement VR games will be supported)
- FEX to run x86_64 games on-device (small performance hit, but access to the vast majority of the Proton-compatible Steam library in return)
- native ARM games are confirmed to be side-loadable (VR or not)
- a wireless streaming dongle to natively stream PCVR, with foveated streaming to increase quality and reduce bandwidth requirements.
I’m super hyped and will most probably (pre)order it day one to replace my shitty CV1. I’m also hoping for a Steam Deck effect by pushing developers to optimize and use foveated rendering as it drastically reduces hardware requirements for high quality graphics.
- Comment on I was recently gifted a Steam Deck for Christmas! If you only had a budget of, let's say 50 bucks, what would you get? 7 months ago:
