Shit title.
Mint will be Wayland ready around Christmas 2026 when the next version will be released.

- Comment on "It's too dangerous for us to speculate": Valve don't know if Steam Machine prices will drop in the future, after admitting that "some people are going to priced out" 2 weeks ago:
Yeah, I see your point. To paraphrase, it says that they have to make a profit and can’t guarantee game sales from their own store to offset any potential subsidisation.
My point is that Gaben/Valve have billions and don’t need the profit from it. So what if some people use it to play games from other stores? They’ll be in the minority for sure.
I guess everyone is too capitalism-brained to see past the profit motive.
- Comment on "It's too dangerous for us to speculate": Valve don't know if Steam Machine prices will drop in the future, after admitting that "some people are going to priced out" 2 weeks ago:
Sure, but the vast majority of people aren’t going to do that. I don’t think it makes sense to say they can’t do it because 5% of buyers may act in a certain way.
I agree that all these companies are super greedy, the point was that even though they’re greedy they still sell at a loss on the hardware as it ends up making them even more money.

The game store that has so much of the PC market that people call it a monopoly can’t?
That doesn’t make any sense.
- Comment on "It's too dangerous for us to speculate": Valve don't know if Steam Machine prices will drop in the future, after admitting that "some people are going to priced out" 2 weeks ago:
The real question here is if console manufacturers can sell consoles at a loss expecting to make up the shortfall with game sales, why can’t Steam? Gabe/Steam have billions and could easily do this. The only answer I can think of is greed.

Watch this video from the guy who started the Stop Killing Games movement. Then you can stop misrepresenting what they’re trying to do.
- Comment on Stop Killing Games-backed California bill targeting online game shutdowns "isn't going to be an easy thing" to enforce, says the politician behind it 3 weeks ago:
That doesn’t sound fair at all. I think for many games, considerations such as this potential law will demand would have to be included in the initial design and development. There are also the potential implications for licensing of middleware etc.
Again, you cannot be expected to comply with a law that doesn’t exist yet.
There may be a case for “live-service” games that it could apply as they could be considered to be under constant development. Most of those are either subscription or free to play though which would exclude them entirely as neither is a purchase of a perpetual license.

While it might not be easy for existing games…
I can’t see why they would try to include existing games. Laws are (almost?) never retroactive. How can you comply with a law if it doesn’t exist yet?

- Comment on Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney throws shade at Valve / Gabe Newell for Steam Deck pricing 5 weeks ago:
Where’s the “Epic deck” Tim? Oh that’s right, after 8 years you still can’t properly make a website for buying games.
Not to stand up for Valve directly here but just to make a point (because we all know companies are not our friends) - but hold on a moment, isn’t this the same CEO who forced over 1,000 people to look for work elsewhere after laying off a whole lot of people? Yes it is. Sweeney has also been quite vocal about support for generative AI, you know - that thing driving up prices of everything everywhere. So perhaps Sweeney is not exactly the best person to be throwing shade around like this.
Well said Liam.

- Comment on Re-Logic celebrate 15 years of Terraria - 70 million sales, cross-play soon and more updates to come 1 month ago:
I’ve had 1200 hours over 8 years out of Terraria and I bought it for £3.49!
I’m sure I’ll add another 100 hours once 1.4.5 hits Tmodloader.
Truly one of the best games of all time IMO. They really deserve their 70 million sales.

The only mark against these setpieces are the Horizon hosts: influencer types characterised by endless, pointless babbling. Remember, though: you can turn off all NPC speech in the settings.
Thank fuck for that. I had to rename all the voice files to get them to shut up in FH4 as you could only turn the NPC volume to 1/10!

Seconding the Rii remote. I have one with an air mouse, works just fine.
OP, Plasma Bigscreen hasn’t seen an update in a while (so much so it was dropped from Debian 13 for being not compatible with Plasma 6/Qt6 iirc). There are people working on it though so hopefully it’ll see a release soon.
- Comment on "There is a new narrative from haters," Off the Grid studio boss says of accusations Gunzilla haven't paid workers on time, claims full-timers' salaries "have never been delayed by more than a week" 2 months ago:
Today there is a new narrative from haters — that Gunzilla incorrectly laid off contractors or paid them with delays. Yes, we are optimising costs — like every company in gaming, crypto, and tech is doing right now. We have been doing this for over a year.
And yes, to not disrupt company operations, some payments may be scheduled in a way that works for the company’s cash flow — not always for everyone individually. That’s the reality of the world we live in. But to protect the interests of our players and our full-time official employees — whose salaries, over six years, have never been delayed by more than a week — we operate at a pace that ensures the company continues moving forward.
And of course, we honor every obligation. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. It’s also worth noting that one of the loudest voices — a contractor who finished working with us just a week ago — was repaid immediately.
What a massive piece of shit. Seems to be a prerequisite for making NFT/blockchain/crypto games though.
