  The law does not require photo ID uploads or facial recognition, with users instead simply self-reporting their age, setting AB 1043 apart from similar laws passed in Texas and Utah that require “commercially reasonable” verification methods, such as government-issued ID checks. Assemblymember Buffy Wicks, who authored the bill, said this “avoids constitutional concerns by focusing strictly on age assurance, not content moderation,” in a press release. The bill passed both chambers unanimously, 76-0 in the Assembly and 38-0 in the Senate."

  Further, this is temporary. Anyone wanting to skirt the law will just use Linux, and eventually there will be a lot of public cases and this loophole will be closed.

  I read the reviews and decided I could live with a few bugs here and there. THAT IS NOT WHAT THIS IS, The negative reviews are the truthful ones. Servers crash and kick the entire player base out at least 1/3 matches. Sometimes you will get disconnected from one, join another, and get disconnected from that one as well within minutes. The entire server. All 100 players. Match progress? Gone. Nothing to show for it either. Not only that, but at random, the game will force your FPS down to 20 or below. Regardless of specs. The only way to get it back to normal is to adjust your visual settings, like turning a light switch on and off again. (Exit and re enter fullscreen, change resolution) Basically you have to interact with any setting the visual tab to fix this. It is ridiculous. Frame drops to unplayable numbers during intense moments, servers crashing after 85 minutes of dedicated effort. They should not have released this, In fact, I would even go so far as saying this quality is so bad they should be forced to issue partial refunds to the people who spent money on this game as it was advertised as a full finished product, which, it is not. Not even close. So much potential completely wasted by laziness and lack of effort on the dev side. Truly tragic.

  Windows 10 China Government Edition supports Mandarin Chinese only, region locked.

  • OneDrive / Microsoft Cloud is removed,
  • no Microsoft Store,
  • Minimal or no telemetry to meet government demands,
  • uses Chinese-approved encryption standards (unlike BitLocker),
  • Entra ID / Azure AD Support replaced with local directory services,
  • more localized control over system updates in Win 10 China Govt Ed.

  I wonder if China asked to compile it themselves.

  Honestly don’t know enough about programming to be sure but this seems like a responsible use of AI–flagging issues in large blocks of code for manual review.

  The DM changes merged for Linux 7.3 include six minor code clean-ups for issues spotted by Claude Opus 4.6. There are also various manual code clean-ups to different DM targets, improved metadata validation for DM-PCACHE and DM-ARRAY, and various fixes.

  Early on, before we mandated its use, we provided extensive e-learning modules and videos – including what we call “fast tracks” for the individual modules. With these, it was possible to learn the most important changes for Writer, Calc, Impress, and Base within 15 minutes, so users wouldn’t fall into the typical pitfalls. Anyone who invests those 15 minutes will find it much easier to use the software.

  But it’s slippery-slope, camel’s nose in the tent shit. Once you have a law like this, you have the money men pissed off that free OSs have a competitive advantage and they’ll buy the laws they need to eliminate competitors entirely. You’ve also gone from arguing that age verification is a BAD IDEA to free operating systems need an exception, which is much poorer ground to fight on.

  Actually a bit surprising. I’d think emulator nerds would be using Linux at significantly higher rates than normal and I think 10% is the latest (optimistic) general adoption rate.

  Won´t be too long before EU governments and corporations stop handing their information over to Trump’s surveillance state as a matter of routine; several governments and privacy-focused businesses (hospitals especially) are planning to transition off of Microsoft to Linux.

  Yup. Linux has only gotten better as Windows has only gotten worse. It makes sense that at some point Linux would seem a better option to a growing number of people.

  We carefully reviewed the project you shared with us (github.com/linuxwacom/wacom-hid-descriptors). While we appreciate the initiative, we found that this is primarily a Wacom-led project, and the potential impact for GAOMON would be quite limited. Even if we added support for our devices, the system would still show the device as a GAOMON model, but the overall setup would display Wacom branding. More importantly, participating would require sharing our device specifications directly with Wacom – which is not something we can consider.

  Moral: stop naming your repositories after brand names.
