Oddly timed accessory is released as the Switch’s life cycle is winding down.
Did they not already have this? There are literally hundreds of these, are they really all third-party? JFC, Nintendo…

Nintendo had the apparatus that let you turn two Joycons into a bigger “controller”. I don’t think you can charge the ‘cons through it, though.
There are two versions of this, one that came free with Switches that doesn’t charge, and one you have to buy separately that you can plug a USBC cable into to charge the joy cons.
There’s a dual joycon grip that comes with the console in certain combo pack thingies, but there’s also an aftermarket one you can buy. The one that came with my console doesn’t have a charge port, but my aftermarket one does. I’m pretty sure it’s a first party Nintendo product, but I could be wrong.
The fact that Nintendo is just now making a joycon cradle is insane though, along with the fact that it can only charge two at a time. I bought a 3rd party joycon cradle months after getting my switch for like 20 bucks, and it can fit 4 joycons.
Classic nintendo tbh
Such an odd choice because these things have existed for years. I have one that charges 4 JoyCons.
Conclusion: Switch 2 is around a very big corner.
🎶 It’ll be comin’ ‘round the mountain when it comes. 🎵
Paradox did this same shit with a CS DLC and immediately announcing CS2.
they chopped off switch dog’s ears that’s so fucked up

it signals the possbility that joycons can be used on the switch 2 for backwards compatibility reasons, but since they supposedly changed the rail system (magnets) old joycons cannot charge on the new device. Nintendo had no official way of charging joycons off device (only 3rd party devices)

This is the correct answer of why. It’s the only way it makes sense if we’re really going with “odd timing means it must have a reason” and it’s not just a Nintendo blunder

Smart theory.
