nah babe just COVER your screen in fingerprints! everyone loves touch screens right??
- Comment on There's a playable Disco Elysium 2 prototype in the wilds, according to a report on clashes between the "spiritual successors" 1 month ago:
it’s gonna be a real needle in a haystack of bastardized imitations though. which i suppose is always at least somewhat the case with important works of art.
god i still need to read that book.
- Comment on Overkill is doing their annual Steam Deck survey 2 months ago:
am i crazy or were the wii guitars like, uncharacteristically good? they’re the only ones i had growing up, and then i bought a ps2 guitar for clone hero recently and it’s TRASH in comparison!
- Comment on LG's new stretchable display can grow by 50%, bendy panels can be deformed into new form factors 2 months ago:
you’re pretty much right! there is a difference, but one fold won’t be largely discernible on something like a piece of paper.
the initial comment was about foldable screens though, which are both expected to fold more then just the once, and are also much more prone to failure as a result of inter-layer stress.
the issue isn’t that you see the screen deforming, rather the tiny deformations you can’t see are causing issues like delamination or seemingly random failure. but hey, extra stretchy screens could, if not entirely fix, at least mitigate this particular problem!
- Comment on LG's new stretchable display can grow by 50%, bendy panels can be deformed into new form factors 2 months ago:
it does though! even for very thin objects like a sheet of paper, bending anything will stretch/squish material depending on whether it’s on the inside or outside of the bend. that’s why paper becomes creased when it’s folded!
an easy way to think about it is with tubes. the inside circumference is always smaller than the outside because when you introduce a curve you’re either lengthening the outside, shortening the inside, or both.
- Comment on Meet Interlock — The new ransomware targeting FreeBSD servers. 2 months ago:
could you counterattack the ransomware operators by setting up an untold number of sacrificial VMs loaded up with filler files and then infecting them all? at the very least it would bog down their “negotiations” website, which seems to generate a specific ID for each compromised system.

SO hyped

I encountered a certain npc with placeholder art without realizing it, and I just thought they were going for a really bold character arc.
Then I saw a second one and it made a lot more sense lmao
- Comment on Most played games on Steam Deck for May 2024 - Hades II tops the list 7 months ago:
That was the first thing I played when I got my deck! My “recently played” at the time was all multiplayer FPS games and other shit that doesn’t play well with controllers. I figured “shit, at least I can get a feel for the device” and then blasted like 8 straight hours of it that first day hahahah
- Comment on ZOTAC Zone is yet another AMD gaming handheld 7 months ago:
That front facing camera makes me nervous. Windows comes with enough virtual bloat, I don’t need physical bloat in the form of nigh useless hardware.
- Comment on [Discussion] New month, new games. What are you playing on your Steam Deck? - June 2024 7 months ago:
Hades 2, no contest
- Comment on Most played games on Steam Deck for May 2024 - Hades II tops the list 7 months ago:
I bought hades 2 last week and already have almost 30 hours. Those games have the most satisfying difficulty curve. The first time you fight a boss it’s overwhelming and maybe even feels unfair, but smash cut 10 tries later where you’re nailing a no-hit and thinking “hey maybe this boss needs a buff actually”
And the presence of “god mode” means I can recommend it to literally anyone, regardless of how apt they are for ARPGs!

- Comment on Spotify is going to break every Car Thing gadget it ever sold 7 months ago:
That’s honestly a good idea, but I reckon they’d probably give em a real shit rate like they already do with artists.
The thing that really gets my goat is getting a fucken full screen ad for some random mainstream new release.
- Comment on Spotify is going to break every Car Thing gadget it ever sold 7 months ago:
Yeah see I was under the impression that it’s still the show’s choice, like if you don’t have sponsor deals you can just let spotify inject ads and get paid for that instead.
- Comment on Spotify is going to break every Car Thing gadget it ever sold 7 months ago:
I believe ads in podcasts are the doing of the folks making the podcast, not spotify.
- Comment on 8 months ago:
Man I’d render at fucken 800x600 if it got me like a solid 50 fps
- Comment on 8 months ago:
That one really surprised me, does it have something like a render scale slider? Unless there’s a baked-in way to achieve ultra potato graphics, I just can’t imagine it’s playable.
But shit man, the numbers are right there! There’s gotta be something to it. Maybe people are just putting up with ~20fps averages or some shit.
- Comment on No Rest For The Wicked will be playable on Steam Deck, although recommended PC specs may be a worry 8 months ago:
I tweaked slime rancher 2 and both subnauticas to at least an average 50. It’s not pretty but it’s super doable, and the small screen gives a good amount of leeway before you even really notice shit like shadows being off entirely lmao
