Steam Deck LCD production is ending — the budget handheld gaming PC will no longer be available once stock is gone

In a surprise move, or perhaps not so surprising given current market conditions, Valve has not only stopped stocking the Steam Deck LCD in the U.S., but has also explained that it is phasing out the entry-level gaming handheld.

Other regions may follow, but that has not been confirmed, and Valve has yet to officially comment on the phasing out of the LCD model.

The Steam Deck LCD has been Valve’s most affordable handheld to date. If I’m allowed to speculate, rising RAM and storage prices could be part of what is making the LCD model harder to justify in the current market.

Well yeah. When the things price point is driven by ram and not display it makes little sense anymore.

  Wouldn’t surprise me if there’s also a “depletion of LCD screen stock and/or 7nm APU stock” ingredient in the doesn’t make sense anymore soup as well.

I like my LCD model; I’m glad I got it at a great deal. But I thought it was going to be the last batch of LCD ones back then.

As I speak I’m two emails deep with support on my randomly bricked steam deck. Is been horrible and has stopped working three times in two years just randomly. This time it is fully unresponsive, six months out of warranty.

    Sorry you’re having so many troubles. Glad they are taking care of you.
    
    I have two steam decks. One bought on pre-order, the other was aftermarket with a broken screen, so I swapped it to DeckSight OLED. That second one was abused hard by its previous owner, inside and out, but it’s still working great. So for what it’s worth, I think the hardware is solid, if you don’t get a bad one. Every product line has occasional duds
