If you want to make your own Deus Ex or Saint’s Row game, you can just do that. You’re gonna have to call it something else, but who cares? The name isn’t adding that much, the important part is getting the themes, mechanics, and vibes right.
If you don’t want to make your own Deus Ex or Saint’s Row game and you buy the name and now you have to make one, the game you make is gonna be trash.

I’m unfortunately not excited to see timesplitters here. Though it is my favorite game, I don’t think it could be made today. Too much of it could be used for microtransactions, the spirit and creativity are lost among modern developers so it would either be a “hey millennials remember this?” Or a fortnite style “hey fellow kids look at this topical and popular media of which I have partnered. Skibity.” Finally the humor just isn’t there. The original cameout of a love for golden eye and a long lasting friendship, any in jokes, references, or risqué humor is going to be glassed from orbit by a board of directors in the name of optimal marketability.
If you want more timesplitters like I do, go donate to Timesplitters Rewind. At least they’re doing it for the love of the game instead of the money.
