I do hope the shape is improved. The main reason I sold my og steam controllers is because I couldn’t figure out how to hold them comfortably. My steam deck feels amazing in hand though, so I hope it’s like that 🤞

I thought it was really satisfying. Not to mention just really clever engineering. Back when I still had one I was popping the batteries in and out like it was a fidget toy, definitely wouldn’t call it a nightmare

I would buy that, multiple even

It really shows, because it’s just a well thought out, no compromises device. I’m still crossing my fingers hoping that they’re getting somewhere with the steam controller 2 prototypes that I’m sure they’re playing with if only for shits and giggles

C’mon valve make a steam controller 2

oh no, I’m being shot from behind, just give me 5 seconds to hold my joystick all the way to the edge and line up a shot
I agree that the touchpad isn’t best for every game, but your example just sounds like your sensitivity is way too low. I used to have a couple steam controllers, I have a steam deck, and I used to play a lot of mobile shooters before I could afford a pc. In any case, I like my sensitivity to be 1 full swipe = 180° in game. Add in gyro and I’ll make that about 1-to-1 device rotation to in-game rotation (or if anything a little more sensitive).

Controller is more comfortable to me, so unless I’m playing an fps that requires a lot of precision, I play on controller. I already have to sit at a mouse and keyboard for work everyday

Yeah I can see that. Can it breath ok like that?

I wish the port was on the bottom in the first place. Ditto audio jacks on phones (while they lasted, rip)

Just to clarify, the Jellifin app for Roku is pretty good and has been improving a ton the last year in particular. But yeah, Roku itself is it’s own can of worms

Thanks for the share! Great way to waste a few minutes from time to time

I heard that it’s better on the OLED but the og deck’s touch screen is kinda poor. So I haven’t really used it much :/

Tbh I was like halfway down the thread before I realized that it wasn’t

Oh, I’ve heard of the alpakka! That one is pretty unique, looks really effective though once you get the hang of it. If you didn’t know, there’s also “flick stick”, which is a gyro technique distinct from either. Personally, I’m hoping for a steam controller 2. The deck feels much more natural in my hands than the original steam controller did

There’s more then one way to gyro, so I guess I shouldn’t have said it’s THE way to go. But it’s my preference. I treat gyro as an aggressive auto aim without the auto. Large motions are still controlled by the right joystick or touchpad, I just gyro for the fine, fast aiming. I’ve never felt the need to ratchet, I can reorient by swiping the touchpad intuitively.

I fit mine back there after coiling up the cable. It’s not very secure, but it works

I mean, there used be a webapp that let you run snes rom files from your Google drive (forgot what it’s called), so I have no doubt that a link to the past could run on anything
- Comment on Xonotic on Steam Deck with Joysticks + Gyro Control! 11 months ago:
Same! I’ve been playing since it came out, and Pubg mobile’s control scheme is honestly so innovative. I’m glad that other mobile fps have been following suit. I can look you dead in the eye and say that I’d rather play pubg on my phone with gyro always on than on console with without gyro every single time, without question. When you get good at it, it’s legitimately as good as a mouse.

I really hope it becomes more mainstream. It’s really a game changer (literally)

That’s how you approach it, with ever increasing real numbers. Take a calculus class, I’m done teaching you for free

Right, infinity is late high-school, early university math.
Also not really relevant but you know that elementary mechanics approximates the theory of relatively at regular earth scale?

Well, yeah, I honestly do think that. You don’t seem to know what a limit is, you don’t know the difference between natural and real numbers, you don’t know the formal definition of infinity, and you don’t know any applications of calculus, the subject built around that definition. So yeah, I have a really hard time believing that you’ve ever taken a college level math class, or even paid good attention in your highschool math classes either.

Right! hence why you can only approach it with the limit notation, never operate on it directly. Please, take a calculus class. You might even learn this on day 1

Zero is a real number, but not a natural number. I’m not going to explain the difference because, dude, this is junior high math

First sentence from Wikipedia: “Infinity is something which is boundless, endless, or larger than any natural number.”
In other terms give me a natural number n, I’ll show you a larger number, n+1, and I’ll do it again and again. That’s the definition of infinity. There’s always a bigger number.

What’s that got to do with anything? Infinity is just shorthand for “ever-increasing number”.
