Yeah that’s the one I was picturing lol. Not sure my thumb is adept enough to tell all those buttons apart

Lol that sounds pretty cool tbh. Assuming your mouse has ~12 inputs like the right side of the Deck or most gamepads do

Just adding here that when I first got into PC gaming, I was really into Battlefield 3 but hated the M+K controls for any of the vehicles so I would pick up my wired gamepad whenever I got into a vehicle.
If we had something that seemlessly mixed the strengths of both input methods, as it seems that the Switch 2 JoyCons do, that would solve so many of the problems I have with playing vehicle-heavy FPS games, or 3rd person action games that also include aiming a ranged weapon.
- Comment on How long before Switch 2 JoyCon MouseMode is usable on a Deck? 4 weeks ago:
“any bluetooth mouse” needs to be paired with either a keyboard, or one of those split keyboards, or a gamepad in the other hand and none of those are very conducive to playing a game from the couch.
I’ll admit I haven’t tried the MouseMode at all, let alone on my lap or on the couch next to me but it sounds extremely novel and likely to catch on if it could work well.
- Comment on How long before Switch 2 JoyCon MouseMode is usable on a Deck? 4 weeks ago:
If I were to use a trackball, I might as well use my old Steam Controller with its track pads which are practically the same.
I feel like the benefit of the Mouse Mode is you have two halves of a Steam Deck’s built-in controller, one in each hand, but instead of track pads you have an actual laser mouse. Maybe I’m being picky but this seems relatively revolutionary in my head
- Comment on How long before Switch 2 JoyCon MouseMode is usable on a Deck? 4 weeks ago:
I think you’re missing the point. A standard mouse lacks a lot of stuff. Sure there are mice with peripheral buttons, and some with a lot of them, and even some with joysticks, but the Switch 2 JoyCons come with not just that, but a paired controller for your other hand that fits there much better than a full Xbox or Playstation or Switch Pro gamepad. Having a mouse built into the controllers would be just like having the Deck’s trackpads, except with more precision.

That seems fairly nice, but are you able to purchase the Legion Go’s detachable controllers separately? I’m not about to buy a full new handheld console since I already have a Deck

The side of the controller that would magnetically attach to the Switch 2 can be placed on a surface (including a lap/thigh) and used as a laser mouse

- Comment on [Game] Doom the Dark Ages will not run well on steam deck at release 1 month ago:
That’s so disappointing to hear. DOOM and DOOM Eternal not only run fucking fantastically on the Steam Deck, but they look fucking gorgeous on it too.
I had my suspicions that Microsoft would fuck something up and now my suspicions say that this is it (and I hope this is the extent of it)
- Comment on Marvel's Spider-Man 2 now Steam Deck Verified with a fresh update out to improve performance 1 month ago:
Very. It’s extremely similar to the first in many ways but has loads of improvements that refine what was already there. It’s like Borderlands 3 compared to Borderlands 2, or Arkham Knight compared to Arkham Asylum

Love the idea. However the reason I won’t use this is the same reason I don’t use Friendica: no one I know gives half a shit about using FOSS because it’s better for society.
:(

“Buyer beware”
I’m not here to provide Valve with free advertising, but what do you want buyers to be wary of?
- Comment on [deleted] 2 months ago:
It supports up to 4. Full disclosure I haven’t tried split screen on the Deck, but I fully believe it’s worth a shot

I can’t help but laugh at the idea of a couple of 8 year-olds playing through Baldur’s Gate 3 lol.

Strong, STRONG recommendation for checking out [Hypercharge: Unboxed (youtu.be/LTH8TY95WXk).
It’s an amazing mix of aesthetic from Army Men: Sarge’s Heroes on the N64 and the Toy Story 2 Action Game with the PvP gameplay of the former and PvE gameplay of any famous shooter from the past 20 years.
To top it off, the level of detail put into every damn corner of the game is to die for. Customizable action figure player characters, all the NPC enemies are recognizable toys that react exactly as you expect (i.e. Beyblades that spin out into pieces when destroyed, and plastic soldiers that melt when shot with a flamethrower), and the environments are all lovingly designed and decorated. It’s the perfect modern couch-co-op game.

Screen Cheat is so damn underrated. Love that game
- Comment on Using the Steam Deck docked has been a dreadful experience for me. Is it just me going wrong? 3 months ago:
I definitely sometimes have the audio issue and it’s annoying as hell. I don’t have a solution though I’m sorry
- Comment on [Discussion] What games are you playing on your deck? - March 2025 4 months ago:
I was really disappointed while playing this on my Deck that after a few seconds of playing with headphones the audio just dies and I can’t hear anything. Not sure why that could possibly be specific to GoW:R but it is
- Comment on Best Steam Deck games under $5 in the Couch Co-Op Fest sale 4 months ago:
It’s not on Steam, but my favorite casual couch co-ompetitive game is SUPER SPACE _______ made by some students at DigiPen. It’s free and absolutely amazingly frustrating but in such a fun way. All players control the same ship using only their cannons for propulsion while competing to shoot the most asteroids and together trying to steer the ship to stay alive

SPIDER-MAN 2 IS COMING TO PC TOMORROW??!?!?!
holy FUCK this is HUGE NEWS
I literally staved off the urge to buy a PS5 for like a continuous 6 months because I knew this was coming some day and now some day is TOMORROW?!?!??!?
- Comment on Any good racing games you have been doing on the deck? 5 months ago:
Burnout Paradise runs flawlessly and has yet to be bested in the arcade racing genre (except maybe by Full Auto but that’s not available on PC)
- Comment on Name your most played and most surpring game you played on Steam Deck 2024 5 months ago:
I think I played the original Dark Souls more than anything else on my Deck (still can’t beat Ornstein and Smough dammit), but I was most surprised by how great Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands plays on it. The game runs buttery smooth, the HDR is gorgeous, and the controls feel magnificent in spite of using thumbsticks for an FPS
- Comment on SteamOS expands beyond Steam Deck (upcoming SteamOS beta for other devices) 5 months ago:
we will be shipping a beta of SteamOS which should improve the experience on other handhelds, and users can download and test this themselves
So how does SteamOS distinguish between a “handheld” and a desktop, and what’s the Nvidia support like?
Asking for a friend who has an Nvidia-powered desktop that’s been infected with the Windows virus for over a decade now
- Comment on [Discussion] What games are you playing on your deck? - January 2025 6 months ago:
My 11 year old brother was told he can’t beat DOOM Eternal on Ultra Nightmare (1 life mode) given only 100 hours of playtime. I told him there’s absolutely no chance he can do that if he’s on Xbox or PS, and to prove it to him I’ve been letting him try on my Steam Deck which is essentially a console controller++
Credit where it’s due, he’s great with the thumbsticks but he’s changed difficulty from Nightmare to Ultra Violence a few too many times to instill any confidence that he could do this lol
- Comment on [Discussion] Do you use any headphones with your Steam Deck? 6 months ago:
On a plane I’ll use my Airpods Pro 2. They have worked shockingly well for the Deck being a non-Apple product.
I will say though for seemingly no reason they don’t work with God of War Ragnarok. They work fine at first but after roughly a minute, everytime I launch the game, the audio starts to get glitchy and eventually just disappears entirely until I disconnect and reconnect, when it starts that cycle over. I can’t tell in any way why it happens but it happens everytime.

- Comment on [Leak] Steam Controller 2 render thumbnail leaked in SteamVR drivers 7 months ago:
It seems to me like the thumbsticks are in the same ergonomic location as on a Playstation controller, and the trackpads are just in the empty space that would otherwise be there. I’m fully into it even if this is what it looks like when complete

For what it’s worth, I was able to remotely walk my brother through getting Clone Hero working on his Deck with a used GH controller from Ebay having never done it myself. It’s not too difficult!
