- Comment on Does anyone know what this part is called? 2 weeks ago:
Looks like the haptics connector bracket on the right button board according to iFixit:
“Exercise caution when lifting this connector—pry up on the connector itself, not its housing.
Use the pointed end of a spudger to lift up on the haptics cable to disconnect it.
Alternatively, you can leave the haptics connected to the button board and flip the board up and over the edge of the shell and out of the way.”
Lots of comments along the lines of:
“Please remove this step. It is virtually impossible to remove this without breaking the housing and it’s ultimately not necessary.”
Looks like replacing the board as a whole is around $141.

This looks like a result of their deal with NetEase.

Right angle USB-C adaptors to change the angle of the charging cable.
USB-C Y cable to connect power and external SSD at the same time.

- Comment on Cable ISPs compare data caps to food menus: Don’t make us offer unlimited soup 7 months ago:
Except that unlimited soup or salad costs the business money to provide.
Data doesn’t. It’s simply 1s and 0s.
It doesn’t cost an ISP any more to provide the 4 trillionth 1 than it does to provide the first one.
Consuming data also doesn’t deny data availability to someone else, unlike electricity or water.
If I decide to fire up a hydroponics operation and start using 4000x more electricity and water than my neighbors, that could impact them negatively. If I run a torrent farm? Not so much.

If it’s only playing PS5 games, by definition, it’s not exclusive.
- Comment on SD skin quality is there a difference between brands? 8 months ago:
Mostly, the complaints I see are on residue left behind when removing or swapping skins.
So when researching try (brand name) +residue and see what pops up.
If you aren’t planning on removing it then I guess they’re all the same.

I heard all the controversy about Dustborn and picked up the free demo, it’s a decent little Telltale style game.

USB-C is anywhere from 5 Gbps to 20 Gbps. Not sure what standard the Deck supports, but even the slowest is 625 to 2500 mb/s.

I use a 2TB Kingston SSD through the USB-C port. All the Steam Deck stuff stays on the internal drive, Windows 11 on the Kingston.

Weird that the drivers are that dramatically different for the OLED version.
The standard Steam Deck Windows drivers have been out for ages, I have a Win11 external SSD and it works fine.
