You could probably pick up a $50 smart watch from AliExpress that does more. But that’s not the target audience of this thing at all
- Comment on i cant wait to get a steam frame 1 week ago:
The frame is a gaming computer in its own right but can also be used as a display. There’s nothing wrong with the Quest from a technological standpoint. It’s just that you’re forced into the closed Meta ecosystem in order to use it. Many people don’t want to be there these days. Steam hardware tends to be open and moddable. Let’s hope they keep that up with the upcoming products.

Have you heard of irony? Especially considering the sub this is in, I thought it would be obvious.

Have you heard of the Steam Deck? Things aren’t the same as they were ten years ago.
- Comment on Steam Machine 1 month ago:
It’s for people to play on their living room TV. Most of those don’t do 120 Hz.

- Comment on Linux users have no reason to worry about recent AMD GPU driver changes 2 months ago:
Because those are cards that are just a few years old and are still available new in retail. And those cards are still perfectly capable of playing current games. Also, some of their APUs still ship with RDNA2. So, in effect, they’ve stopped supporting products they still make.
- Comment on Linux users have no reason to worry about recent AMD GPU driver changes 2 months ago:
Still a dick move by AMD. And they’re really shooting themselves in the foot yet again. It’s almost like they don’t want to be successful.

- Comment on Does anyone else use their steam deck as a PC? How's it? 3 months ago:
When I travel I take the deck and a Bluetooth keyboard with a trackpad. It works fine as a laptop in a pinch. With an external monitor it’s a perfectly serviceable PC.

The western companies are too focused on the next quarterly earnings report to be able to formulate any sort of vision for the future. Which is not in any way surprising because that’s just the way the system is set up. But it would be the job of governments to set the agenda here, which they’ve been failing miserably at.

Sure, but at some point it’ll be just too outdated.
- Comment on 4 months ago:
The steam deck is getting long in the tooth and will increasingly have trouble playing newer titles. In PC gaming, you can’t have console-like product cycles.
- Comment on 4 months ago:
Time for a successor, though. Sometimes I think Valve really doesn’t like money. They could make a crapton by bringing out a new Steam Deck and a Steam console.

Don’t worry. The power will be provided by imaginary nuclear reactors.
