This is the way.
- Comment on Netflix acquires gaming avatar maker Ready Player Me 2 days ago:
Last game I played that let you use your own face was Tony Hawk’s Underground (either 1 or 2, don’t remember). That was about 20 years ago at this point. I’m surprised that more games don’t have this feature, especially in the era of modern smartphones that can do a 3D scan of your face.
- Comment on Latest Steam Deck update will warn you if an Xbox controller needs upgrading 4 days ago:
Ex-fucking-actly! A world of possibilities would open up in the realm of emulators with a 6 button pad.
- Comment on Latest Steam Deck update will warn you if an Xbox controller needs upgrading 4 days ago:
Do they make a pad that is exactly like the upcoming Steam Controller Mk.II, except with two extra face buttons next to B & Y (like an old Sega controller)? It should also have cooling fans for my hands without sacrificing rumble (just like an old Logitech controller I had back in the day).
Something like that is my dream controller and I’ve been waiting for someone to come along and make it for years.
- Comment on Why won’t Steam Machine support HDMI 2.1? Digging in on the display standard drama. 2 weeks ago:
Yes but gaming TVs are all HDMI-only, so this is a major issue for a gaming PC that is being designed for the living room.
- Comment on An entire PS5 now costs less than 64GB of DDR5 memory, even after a discount — simple memory kit jumps to $600 due to DRAM shortage, and it's expected to get worse into 2026 3 weeks ago:
Shit like this is why I don’t purchase until I can afford the entire build. Time goes by faster than you think. It would sick to get stuck with a PC that’s already obsolete before you get the funds together to finish it.
If I were you, I’d return everything while you still can, then set aside the money until you can afford tje complete build. Luckily for you you just started, so the return window for everything will still be open for everything.
Consider this a lesson learned and good luck with your eventual build!

Both are true.

Not too long ago BTC was hovering around $120K. The price has fallen quite a bit in recent weeks

- Comment on Microsoft's decision to axe Windows 10 is driving Apple PC sales growth — users buy Macs instead of AI PCs despite Microsoft’s push for Copilot+ PCs 1 month ago:
Don’t know if it’s still there cause I haven’t used a Mac since 2007, but if you go to the Control Panel and then the keyboard is settings, there should be an setting to rearrange the function of the Control, Option, and Command keys so that they behave just like Control, Super, and Alt do in Linux and Windows.
- Comment on Why Are Some Democrats Backing MAGA's Anti-LGBTQ+ Censorship? 1 month ago:
IDK why but my state’s governor also backed internet censorship, and now I need a VPN just to look at porn.
- Comment on "I’m Canceling My Subscription": Xbox Players Call to "Boycott" Game Pass "Hard" Over 50% Price Increase As Microsoft’s Website Crashes from Mass Cancellations 2 months ago:
Jesus Fucking Christ, it was $4.99/month a few years ago; what did Microsoft expect? Even at that price it was hardly worth paying for…
I haven’t paid a subscription for entertainment for a handful of years now, but now I’m starting to understand why people are canceling streaming services en masse. Disney+ was $6.99/mo back when I had it but I heard it’s also $20-something a month now too. People just needed a good excuse to cancel, and now they have one.

I’ll look into it, thanks.

Tails is amazing and I’m glad we have something like that, but it is not practical for every day use IMO.

I don’t get what part of their post has you confused.
- Comment on New Arizona law to restrict online porn access; Pornhub will block state 2 months ago:
You’re fucking kidding me, right? Can’t believe that I have to state the obvious: Because government censorship of the internet is a dangerous, slippery slope.
- Comment on New Arizona law to restrict online porn access; Pornhub will block state 2 months ago:
It would have worked if the tankies would have actually went out out and voted blue! But no, you rather vote for genocide and fascism by staying home.

Mullvad is always the answer.
- Comment on Samsung phones embedded with 'unremovable' Israeli spyware 2 months ago:
I have yet to run into spyware that couldn’t easily be uninstalled with a few ADB commands.
That is unless—of course—you consider OneUI/Android itself to be spyware (which it is). Privacy in the modern world is dead. It has been for over 20 years now.
- Comment on Root cause for why Windows 11 is breaking or corrupting SSDs may have been found 3 months ago:
Yes I’m aware the added information is fake, but I don’t care cause it still looks better than SDR. The additional fake details especially look good in the highlights. Clouds are a lot more realistic, for one. There’s almost as much brightness information as real life clouds.
- Comment on Root cause for why Windows 11 is breaking or corrupting SSDs may have been found 3 months ago:
HDR is not “trivial and minor”. It’s a make or break feature for me. I use it every day.
- Comment on Root cause for why Windows 11 is breaking or corrupting SSDs may have been found 3 months ago:
Games and YouTube. HDR makes them so much better.
Like I said to the other person, I didn’t spend $1800 on a high-end OLED for no reason. I want to hear able to use every feature it has.
- Comment on Root cause for why Windows 11 is breaking or corrupting SSDs may have been found 3 months ago:
Yes, really. HDR is a make or break feature for me.
I didn’t spend $1800 on a high-end OLED, only to be unable to fully utilize every feature I paid for.
- Comment on Root cause for why Windows 11 is breaking or corrupting SSDs may have been found 3 months ago:
Been there, done that.
Fix the shitty, half-assed HDR support first, then I’ll switch. It’s bare-bones and barely functional in Linux. On Windows you can even convert SDR YouTube videos to HDR in real time, right within Firefox. Linux doesn’t have anything like that yet.
- Comment on How do you make the most of GamePass on SteamDeck? 3 months ago:
OP said they want to play multiplayer games, which are sometimes crackable, but more often not.
- Comment on Imgur's Community Is In Full Revolt Against Its Owner 3 months ago:
I think it’s just VPN usage cause I block their attempts to send my data to third parties like Meta, Google, and Mixpanel—yet I can browse Imgur just fine in both Firefox and in the app.
- Comment on Imgur's Community Is In Full Revolt Against Its Owner 3 months ago:
I use it daily and never have an issue. I wish there was a better site I could use cause it amazes me how often the app attempts to send my personal data to Meta. But unfortunately Lemmy alone isn’t enough to satisfy my need for fresh content ever since I left reddit during the API bullshit.
- Comment on New rumor suggests Valve's Steam Deck 2 is much further away than we thought 3 months ago:
I’m fine with this if it means they’re shooting for no-compromise 1440p 120hz with ray tracing this time around. That’s the only way I’d consider a Steam Deck. Otherwise it’s little more to me than just a neat novelty for people who want to get into PC gaming but can’t afford to. I rather just game on my desktop.
- Comment on Planning on buying a SteamDeck. What should I know before purchasing? 3 months ago:
Agree 100%. Steam Deck is great for people with no money who still want to get into PC gaming. Everyone else should build a PC or buy a laptop.
