That the funny thing about hope. It’s a choice, not a feeling.
Or something like that. It was a nugget of wisdom from the K-pop movie my kids watched a million times.

I truly hope it’s not just your bubble.
I keep seeing stuff on folks wrecking those public spy cameras and I almost start thinking people might wake up.

I’ve got 1500+ hours in it overall, though I suspect I left it on the menu screen and fell asleep a few times to reach that number.
It still scratches the rpg/builder/cooperative itch for me, even though I mostly just solo build stuff now.
The challenge of trying to build big and taller with the weight/support mechanic seems to pull me back.
Then sailing does too. I’ve been revisiting the ashlands a bit as well, trying to get my block/dodge timing back up to par before 1.0 hits later this year.

Back to Valheim again for a bit. A local gaming group fired up a new server, so I am back into building massive bases into the side of mountains.

I played KCD2 on my deck and it was decent. You’re in for another pretty good yarn.

I’m not a pen tester, but I think if I was, letting an AI tell me what’s wrong and being satisfied with the answer and fixes it provides wouldn’t sit right with me.
I would want to know exactly where a problem is and how it cascades throughout an entire stack. Then how any fix also affects the same.
The article ends suggesting a hybrid solution, which I believe to be a sound assessment, but it would have to be done correctly. As in, under strict and meticulous protocol and tracking/documentation. Especially whenever the LLM is utilized.
It’s like an article I read a few days ago about companies having to hire back their sys admins a few months after replacing them with AI. The AI understands the code structure, but rarely the full context of its use. Only the expertise of experienced admins can fully understand and derive dependable results. At least for now…

It’s a hard balance to strike. Cost vs. Ethics and reliability.

Their down site blames a freak power outage for it, but still.
I was on the fence about building this cache stack, but now I think I need it.
This all started in my head back when Microslop acquired GitHub. Only a matter of time before they totally screw that up.
I use a lan hosted private forgejo instance for my own stuff. I know that isn’t what it’s meant for really, but it’s very convenient.
Anything I want public I’ll either clone to a service, like codeberg, or I’ll mirror to my VPS on a site forgejo public instance I think. Whenever I can get around to it.

Legit in the middle of setting up a personal cache server for docker containers when this happened. I must have checked my settings 15 times before I realized it wasn’t me. Grrr.

I still think this would be a great way to get a list of people sent to the proper medical care that might not be smart enough to, you know, be allowed to do some things.
Maybe in the future stupidity/gullibility should be treated like mental illnesses. Not to discriminate or put down the questionable people, but to guide and educate them in a way that they can’t severely mess up society just because they outnumber reasonably intelligent people.
It’s really hard to write that thought without it coming across as some sort of discrimination, which it isn’t meant to be.

When it pops fully, can we call it Karmageddon?

Would it be safe to assume their processor/gpu magic that brought us the deck has advanced enough since then to compensate?
I’m no hardware guru, but wouldn’t it be possible to use a swap file or other methods to simulate extra ram if optimized and efficient enough?

I am not a follower of his, but I am certainly an advocate for de-<insert mega tech company name here>ing having just finally rid myself of Micros**t, which was preceded by getting rid of almost all of the family streaming subs.
The Steamdeck is actually a great device for this simply because it is a very functional pc in desktop mode. Throw in a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, with even a generic dock and it can rival most laptops, especially with the added video capabilities it already has.
I find myself using it as a pc almost as much as a gaming device, just because it works so well for both.
